List of Schools and Colleges of Nursing in Nigeria

Schools of Nursing
A school or college of Nursing is usually a division of a government or private teaching hospital. Teaching hospitals are usually established by universities offering Nursing as a degree course. However, the Schools of Nursing don't award degrees i.e BSC, instead, students are awarded Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwifery (RM) or a series of certificates depending on the courses attended. Read School of Nursing VS Nursing at University: The Differences.

For illustration, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is an independent university under which Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) is operating. While the university runs degree Nursing within the University campus, the Teaching Hospital runs the school of Nursing within the hospital complex.

If a candidate is interested in a degree in Nursing, he will have to go to the university using JAMB UTME. If he is interested in the school of Nursing, he doesn't need to write UTME instead, entrance exams into the college.

Degree Nursing is a 5-year course in a university while Registered Nursing is a 3-year course in a teaching hospital.

With the differences established, below is a list of schools or colleges of Nursing in Nigeria. NOTE: For more details and application guidelines for each of the schools, click on the name of each.
