This post answers common questions about JAMB's change of data, institutions, and courses, explaining the process, costs, and implications of making such changes while advising candidates to stay updated and seek professional guidance if needed.

Are you considering the change of institutions and/or courses before or after you have seen your JAMB UTME result or after? Are you bothered by some questions and need immediate answers? Then, you have to read through these 10 questions and answers about JAMB's yearly change of data, institutions, and course exercises.
1. What is the Change of Data, Institutions, and Courses?
This is an exercise opened by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) to allow candidates who had made some mistakes during UTME registration to make corrections. Candidates who just have a change of mind about a few pieces of information filled in during the UTME can also change their data through the exercise.You're allowed to change courses or institutions earlier chosen. This, you can change institutions and/or courses as many times as you can afford to pay for, starting from the 2022/2023 admission year.
Just as it is the norm to effect changes in your choices of institutions/courses before post UTME or admission, candidates can as well change institutions and courses if a school has already offered them courses different from the one chosen in UTME. In this case, the candidates will be instructed to effect a change of courses to the new courses before printing JAMB admission letters.
Other mistakes that can be corrected during this exercise include the names (errors, especially spelling mistakes), Gender (male/female), date of birth, state of origin, and/or local government of origin.

2. Is it Compulsory to do a Change in Institutions and Courses?
No.Unless you deem it needed for your admission, you don’t have to do any change of data, institutions, and courses.
If you think if you don’t change, it may affect your admission, consider doing it.
For instance, if you score less marks than your school/course of choice will consider, it's advisable you change to a school/course that accepts the score you have. See Universities/Polytechnics You Can Change To With Lower Marks.
A similar instance is if your proposed institution takes catchment areas seriously in her admission selection e.g Ilorin, ABU, etc. You may want to consider changing your local government to the one favoured by them. Don't choose a local government you're not sure you can get her state of origin certificate or local government identification letter.
There may be the need to do a change of date of birth if you think your current age may affect you in the future e.g for NYSC mobilization, employment purpose, and so on or truly there was an error in the dates of birth earlier used.

JAMB allows you to do a change of name on her website through your JAMB profile.
You will need to pay #2500 online for this service. This fee excludes the Remita and CBT centre service charges which may vary.
In case of correction of name, you may be required to submit your UTME printout and birth certificate to the JAMB branch office before it can be effected. This correction is, for now, allowed only at JAMB offices and CBT centres. However, you may need to book an appointment with JAMB before being attended to. Use the same mobile line used to get your profile code. It will be corrected and the system will send you a response. You can then proceed to the registration centre.

3. Can I do a Correction of Name, if I (they) Make Spelling Mistakes During UTME Registration?
Yes.JAMB allows you to do a change of name on her website through your JAMB profile.
You will need to pay #2500 online for this service. This fee excludes the Remita and CBT centre service charges which may vary.
In case of correction of name, you may be required to submit your UTME printout and birth certificate to the JAMB branch office before it can be effected. This correction is, for now, allowed only at JAMB offices and CBT centres. However, you may need to book an appointment with JAMB before being attended to. 4. How Do I Change Institutions and Courses? Do I Need to Go Back to the JAMB CBT Centre?
Yes or the JAMB office.Cases of changes like a change of schools and courses, change of name, date of birth, or JAMB subject combination may take you back to the CBT centre or better, the JAMB office.
Before now, you could do the change of institutions and courses with some cafes that are unofficially connected with CBT centres to help you do it) or on your personal computer. As of the 2021/2022 admission year, candidates are strictly required to go to the CBT centre or JAMB offices for the changes.
To make the changes, a CBT centre or JAMB office will:
- Log into your JAMB profile with the JAMB profile email and its password.
- Locate the current year (or the year you want to effect) change of data link
- Choose that and follow the next instructions to make the payment and effect the changes.

5. How Many Times I am Allowed to Effect Changes?
In the past, you were allowed only TWICE /THREE times. As for the 2022/2023 admission year and after, you are now graced for A FEW TIMES. This means you're not limited as long as you can afford to be paying for the changes. |

If it’s the change of name, date of birth, gender, local government, or state; you’re ONLY allowed ONCE.

JAMB will not send a list of students that chose a school to her until the change of institutions is closed.
However, if you do your change of institutions late, the school may know, especially if JAMB is sending lists of students to them in batches.

10. Will the New Schools know that I didn’t choose them initially during UTME/Screening?
No.JAMB will not send a list of students that chose a school to her until the change of institutions is closed.
However, if you do your change of institutions late, the school may know, especially if JAMB is sending lists of students to them in batches.
That’s why it is advisable to do your changes on time. However, that is not going to affect the decision of your school on your admission. Don't panic.

Please o did change of institution August ending, so October 1st I went to register for Delsu Utme form, and it's not showing, it's not working,and it's going to expire 0ctober 11, I don't know if it will work, I don't know if I will be able to apply before the expiry date. DeleteIf the school will not accept your changes, JAMB could have disable change of institution to that school in the first place.
I advise keep checking until the last minute.

ReplyDeleteIf you have really done the change of institution, it means your information has not been sent to the university by JAMB or the university is yet to add it to its database. In this situation, you need to be patient. They will update it sooner. Keep checking the school portal till the closing date. If it doesn't reflect till then, it means they're likely to extend the sales for form.

ReplyDeleteI don't have information about aggregate cut off marks for the 2019. However, with your score and good O'level grades, Sociology shouldn't be a problem if you want that. However, Sociology is more a commercial or management course than Art. Make sure you don't make mistake.

ReplyDeleteYes you can still be offered the admission. But during the freshers registration, they will ask you to present the same local government of origin. So, you will have to change the one at school or on on the JAMB portal.

Ok. You still have more time to wait. I hope the new course will be there on or before the closing date. However, if it doesn't reflect, continue the post UTME registration just like that. It will reflect before the school will start compiling list for admission.

ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, there is no need to panic. Most schools will not update their portal for the new changes until very later. Once the form is still on sales, just be rechecking. It will reflect before the due date.

Before compiling the admission lists, the school and JAMB will update their applicants lists to shuffle for new changes. By this time, new change will reflect on the school portal. However, if your school has closed the screening form already, that may not favor you.

ReplyDeleteFirst, check if the school that offered you admission is the one showing on your CAPS. If so, the issue is with JAMB. You'll need to visit the JAMB office closer to you to lodge this complaint because the delay should be from JAMB.

May be it wasn't approved. JAMB has been rejecting correction of names applications lately. Check your email to see if you have a rejection notice. If so, you'll be left with no other choice than to print your admission letter. Maybe a court affidavit of errors in name will be helpful in the meantime.

I wrote Jamb this year with awaiting result (WAEC) and I have gotten the Post UTME form of the school I applied but I want to change that awaiting result (WAEC) into NECO because of mistake in my WAEC name.. Please how can I do this please ??
ReplyDeleteDon't change awaiting results. When your NECO is out, go and upload that instead. It will change automatically to NECO.

Incase uniuyo release another cut off mark that'll favour them.

DeleteMy brother has a similar problem, the main Jamb result is showing the effected change in LGA, however the caps profile still has the former LGA. We are not sure if the change has really been done, since the payment status for the correction is showing paid(not used). Our only hope is that the original result has the new LGA. Should he pay again?

DeleteSir I did jamb this year and chose fuoye as first choice and eksu as second choice after seeing my jamb score as 271 I did a change of institution to uniben as first choice and oou as second choice . Now I have done uniben postutme and I have seen my screening score then I did Oou postutme this week. Sir please if ooou results is out and I pass my course cut off point in Oou will Oou give me admission since I chose them as second choice or should I change Oou to first choice and forfeit uniben. Sir please what should I do?

ReplyDeleteYou don't need to do anything if you gained your kadpoly admission through JAMB. But if it was the part-time programme you did at kadpoly, you have to do JAMB regularization or JAMB part-time registration in order to have a valid JAMB registration number for future uses.

ReplyDeleteplease i accept transfer approval from my first choice institution but later got admission on school portal with my second choice, i waited for the admission to reflect and I reject it then i went to change my second choice to first choice but my the transfer approval for my initial institution is still there,. Hope it wouldn't affect my chances of gaining admission in my new changes
Once you've changed to your second choice and it's given you admission, that will automatically cancel any transfer or offer from your first choice.

No. You didn't make mistake. It's your school that out its Geo and Regional Planning under the Social Science faculty. It doesn't matter. And you can't change faculty.

ReplyDeleteYou can change if you wrote, in UTME, English, Physics/Maths, Biology and Chemistry. You must also have, in SSCE, Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology

Yes, you can change to a course that doesn't require Biology in JAMB. All engineering and environmental courses ar suitable for this combination
