At JAMB Venue, Do I Need NIN to Sit for UTME?

The need for NIN is getting serious for various activities regarding admissions most especially through JAMB.

We've witnessed the need for NIN during the JAMB registration for both UTME and DE applicants. We've also seen that being asked for in job applications such as Nigeria Army Recruitment, Nigerian Airforce jobs, etc.

Now, while going for UTME, candidates are curious to know if NIN will be asked for before they can be allowed to sit for and write their UTMEs.

Of course, candidates will be taken through a process of verification before being allowed into the halls, among these activities are the fingerprint and biometric checking and confirmation of the exam slips.

But will they need your NIN or National ID card as part of the CBT verification before writing UTME?

Let me answer this question and shed light on any confusion.

JAMB Will Not Need Your NIN or National ID Card During UTME Writing

The only point, during your JAMB activities, where NIN will be required is at the time of generating profile code, which in turn, will be used to buy the JAMB form/PIN.

After that, you won't likely need your NIN for any admission processes or stages again.

In fact, I'd earlier affirmed that NIN will not be used for the change of institutions and courses exercise, post-UTME, etc which are stages after JAMB results are released. 

Similarly, NIN won't be required if you must upload your results to the JAMB portal or do an upgrade of UTME to DE.

Conclusion

While going for your UTME, you don't need to take your NIN or National ID card along as this won't be required for the exams or verification at the entrance.

Candidates are strictly required to with their exam slips and a few other items are allowed such as recommended glasses, face mask or nose cover, etc.
