After Post UTME (DE)/Screening, What Next? See Answer

After completing post-UTME or screenings, admission seekers should expect their scores to be released, follow up on their admission status through JAMB CAPS, await the school's official admission list, and upon receiving an offer, accept it on both JAMB CAPS and the school portal, then proceed with printing necessary documents and paying the acceptance fee.

Admission seekers had been asking: what is next after they'd completed their post-UTMEs or screenings? For some that wrote exams, they want to know what will follow. Those who did just online screening wanted to know if that is all? Those who went for physical screening wanted to know what to look out for next.

Well, this post will take you by hand and show you what usually follows your post-UTME/screening.

I will approach this question based on the general perspective. This is because 99% of Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are following the same or nearly the same processes for their admissions.

Now that you're done with post-UTME/screenings, let's see the next things.

1. Post-UTME/Screening Scores Will be Released

Generally, what universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and schools of nursing asking for JAMB will do is release your results.

Though there could be some variances among these institutions. Some who conduct post-UTMEs will surely let you have your score within days. UNILORIN results take less than 24 hours, LAUTECH less than two days, UNILAG, UNIBEN, UI, Federal Polytechnic Ede, and OAU within a week.

Some universities take a long time though. FUOYE, UNIOSUN, etc. will make your results available in a few weeks. This could be because this set of schools generally uses online screening only. This may change in the future though.

Some institutions will let you see your score immediately after online screening registration and submission. Two of these are Ekiti State University (EKSU), Adeyemi College of Education (B.Ed/NCE), and Federal Polytechnic Ado.

Some will not even bother about results. They just collect your information and you await admission lists. For example, Federal Poly Ilaro, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke, and Federal College of Education Oyo ask candidates to come for physical screenings on the campus without any release of results after. They just release admission lists after that.

Some won't even conduct a post-UTME test or any form of screening. They wait for JAMB to decide on the candidates and forward the lists to them e.g. Federal Co-operative College Ibadan.

2. Admission Follow-Up

After your post-UTME results are released, you're to start to monitor the progress of your admission through the JAMB CAPS.

This is a system designed to monitor the progress of candidates' admissions between JAMB and the institutions. Candidates are expected to ensure their O'level is well uploaded to the CAPS and keep monitoring the changes on it. Here is a list of stages to expect on your CAPS, what they mean, and what you're expected to do at each stage.

At the last stage, where you're offered admission, you're to accept or reject the admission. If you accept, continue to the next item in this post. If you reject it, read "Reject Admission on CAPS? What JAMB and Schools Do".

On acceptance, you're expected to print the JAMB admission letter and original JAMB result if you're not with that already. You will need both at your school, during the freshers' documentation.

3. Await the School Admission List

In most cases, JAMB might have offered you admission before the school does. Hence, you will have to wait for the school list too. Don't doubt whether the school, also, will offer you admission. Once JAMB gives you admission, it's a must for the school as well. I discussed this fully in the post, "Admission Given on JAMB CAPS but Not on School Portal. Here is Why and What to do".

However, it is possible for a school to offer you admission on the school portal but JAMB hasn't on the CAPS. This is not a problem as well. You should just wait for the JAMB to do the same. Once, the institution uploads the admission list to her portal, consider accepting the offer there. Then, pay the acceptance fee thereon.
