Do I Need a TOKEN/PIN to Check JAMB Results?

As soon as candidates leave the JAMB CBT hall, they want to know how to check their results. They want to know if they will buy PINs or TOKENs to see their results.

Of course, if you've checked NECO, WAEC, or NABTEB before now, you should understand that without PIN/TOKEN you won't be able to see and print your SSCE result.

In the case of JAMB, will you need a PIN or token, too, in order to check and print your UTME result?

Checking JAMB Results Online Doesn't Require PIN/TOKEN

As soon as you hear the board is releasing results, you may need to wait to see their result-checking portal open. 

Through that link you will be able to access your result and if wish, print it. 

Meanwhile, checking, through this medium, is FREE but no longer available to candidates since the 2022 admission year. Before that year, candidates can just visit the JAMB portal and print their notification of results, using their JAMB registration number, profile code, or email.

Since this option is no longer available, you're left with other means of checking your result and which will require payment.

You Will Spend Money If You Check UTME Result With SMS But Not For PIN/TOKEN

There is another method to check your JAMB result which doesn't require visiting the board's result-checking portal. Candidates will just use the SMS method using the phone number they used to receive the JAMB profile codes.

To do that, candidates will text UTMERESULT in SMS and send it to 55019

Using this method, you'll be debited with #50 by the service provider i.e. MTN, Glo, 9Mobile, Airtel, etc. After which the summary of your result will be sent to you through an SMS too.

In this case, there is no special PIN/serial number or a token to check the result. The system will check automatically and deliver the result to your mobile phone for the #50 spent.

You Will Pay For the Original JAMB Result But No Buying of PIN/TOKEN

There is a particular type of JAMB result which we call the ORIGINAL JAMB RESULT. This is different from the one earlier stated - that I called the notification of the result.

While the notification of the UTME result was checked, back then, free online, you would need to spend at least #1667 (including the remita charges) for the ORIGINAL JAMB RESULT. Most cafes and CBT centre will charge you N2500 (including their service charge and printing), for this.

To print this, you will be required to log in to your personal JAMB portal and process the payment within your dashboard. After the successful payment, you will download and print the result.

However, it won't require buying a PIN/Token. The result is loaded immediately after the payment is made without waiting for any PIN, serial number, or token.

Conclusion

This post wouldn't be necessary if I had not seen a few candidates requesting PIN/token to check JAMB results. They have read this rubbish from some scamming blogs, online groups, social media, and more.

The good news is that, even though there are two methods of checking the results that require payment i.e. SMS request and original JAMB result, they won't buy you any result checking card, PIN, or token.
