As such, candidates who have taken two or three UTMEs, in the past, must have got this very clear as they're using the same SIM each year they retake it.
However, the case may be different for the candidates who had used one SIM for JAMB UTME but now want to obtain the Direct Entry form. Are they going to use the same SIMs used for their JAMB UTME too?
This is the question this post stands to answer and will share related experiences.
DE Applicants Will Use Their JAMB UTME SIM/Phone
The real thing is that candidates are generally tied to their SIMs used to gain admission from the very start. If you've completed your ND, NCE, HND, BSc, or any higher studies which you gained admission into using JAMB, you're to use the same SIM/line, used back then, for the registration of the direct entry form you're about to obtain.
In one clarification on this, I've said any admission from 2020/2021 requires candidates to text their NINs, using SIMs/lines, to 55019/66019, back then, to get their profile codes, before they got the profile codes. As such, they're tied to that SIM/line. Those before 2020 can use any SIM since in their own days, no NIN used or being tied to any SIM.
So, the question is which year was your JAMB that gave you the first admission? 2018? 2022? If it's 2020 or later, you will use the same SIM. If it's before that, you may use the same SIM or any other. Your answer now determines if you must use the same SIM or not.

JAMB Clarifies the SIM to Be Used For Direct Entry (DE)
In two different interactions between the board and prospective DE applicants, the board has cleared the air.
UMAR B MALA asked if he would be using the UTME 2021 profile code to register for DE or he needed to request a new one. The official reply was to use the UTME 2021 profile code.
This was exactly what I explained in my post, "Can I Use My Last UTME Profile Code For DE Registration?" Although, by extension, JAMB stated that the profile code must be reactivated before being reused. I guided on this too in my post, "Took JAMB 2018, 2019, 2020? Which SIM to Use Again?", in case you don't have the SIM again to reactivate.
The board's answer was not different when a student reported as follows:
I registered for JAMB 2018 and gained admission, I did another one in 2019 these two years I used two different numbers. Which one can I use to register for DE? Cause I can’t find the 2018 number again that I gained admission with. Thank you.

The Same Is Applicable To Regularized Candidates
If you're one of those students who got JAMB admission only after applying for the regularization, your method of processing starts with sending your NIN to 55019/66019 to get the profile code used to register.
This is as direct as those who gained admission without regularization. Hence, as earlier explained, you've also been tied to that SIM/line if you must register for direct entry (DE). The same SIM will be used even if you want otherwise.
Meanwhile, if your own regularization was done without the use of NIN, it's more likely done in the period when candidates were not tied to their SIMs. Hence, it won't matter if you use the SIM/line used during the registration or you want to change that now.
Conclusion
All candidates who have earlier gained admission through JAMB and back then used a SIM/line to get profile codes which were used to buy PIN for their JAMB registration must know that they're tied to that SIM and the line must strictly be used for their Direct Entry registration.
Without this warning or heeding, even if you try to use another SIM for your DE, you'll be referred back to the former SIM as it must be used this time around too.
However, in a few cases, such as if you took your JAMB back in years before 2020, even if you don't have the SIM again, you can use another SIM. This is because candidates didn't use NIN then to get profile codes. Hence, they're not tied to their last SIMs.
