If you’ve already done regularization but had yet to receive an approval message from JAMB, can you go ahead and complete your Direct Entry (DE) registration?
This was a question a candidate contacted me about, very recently.
The prospective DE applicant was formerly a part-time ND student. She had done regularization in order to secure the JAMB registration number she would need to complete her Direct Entry application. Even though not every DE applicant will need the JAMB registration number e.g. Candidates with IJMB, JUPEB, and similar A'level programs.
However, there is a delay – maybe by JAMB or by his former institution. Hence, she had not gotten the notice of approval and the registration number for that.
She is aware that the DE form will close very soon. Her question is now, "is it possible to go ahead with the registration while still waiting for the approval notice and the registration number?"

You Can’t Go On With DE Registration Without Regularization Approval
In most cases, regularization will give you a JAMB registration number or approve anyone you submitted to be activated.
This registration number will be asked for at the JAMB office, during the DE application. Then, what will you submit?
And if you submitted any former unregularized number, it would not be active in the JAMB’s database until you get the official notice that, the number has been approved.

Consider Using "UTME to DE Conversion" Option
To save a year or a long time of waiting, you may need to consider using the UTME to DE (Direct Entry) upgrade. This is the new method that can help you avoid regularization altogether and still enable you to register for DE.
With this option, when the JAMB UTME form is out, you're to obtain it just like other students seeking admission into the 100 level at universities. In your case, however, you're not entering into 100-level but your desired 200-level through DE. Essentially, you're using a shortcut to bypass the regularization process.
Here's the process:
- Obtain the JAMB UTME form.
- Sit for the exam.
- Ensure you secure a good mark.
- Visit a JAMB office once results are released.
- Request to convert your UTME to DE.
At this point, you're canceling your admission processing for UTME and moving directly to Direct Entry. Here, they won't inquire whether you've undergone regularization before or if you've received any regularization approval. They will use the JAMB registration number that you already have from the UTME you registered for.
Don't forget, the primary purpose of regularization is to mainly have a valid JAMB registration number. Then, with the UTME to DE upgrade, you already have that.

You Will Need Other DE-Needed Documents and Items
During the conversion of your UTME to DE, apart from the JAMB registration number from the UTME, you'll need the following at the JAMB office:
- JAMB UTME result
- NIN (National Identification Number)
- Profile code/phone line used to get the profile code
- O'level result
- Your former qualification certificate or statement of result (if not more than 2 years after graduation)
As you must have noticed, the list above is applicable to those candidates that obtain the DE form without the conversion or upgrading. The only difference is in your approach.

You May NOT Even Need The Regularization in the First Place
Listen, the case narrated above was of a holder of the National Diploma who was offered a daily part-time (DPT) or regular part-time (RPT) and finished as such.
This set of candidates will definitely need to do JAMB regularization and wait for its approval. However, candidates for such programs starting from the 2019 admission year need the JAMB part-time registration instead of regularization.
Whereas, certain candidates might have registered for JAMB regularization wrongly. For example, candidates with JUPEB, IJMB, Cambridge, and NABTEB Advanced and those with Registered Nurse or midwifery (RN/RM), some courses from the colleges of health, and related qualifications do not need regularization.

Hello, am an ND holder and still on the jamb regulization, I want to get d.e form before it close, but I did jamb during my admission year, can I risk it as long they will still used the old jamb number for approval

DeleteHowever, you still use OTHER DIPLOMA temporarily to get the registration done. After the approval, return to the CBT centre to change the option to OND and supply the JAMB number.
Lately, JAMB is still advising candidates to consider buying JAMB UTME form and later upgrade that to DE with/without sitting for UTME of the year.

Then, you will tell them you're not given admission by JAMB. That you did conversion. Then, give them your ND result.

DeleteI change my first choice school to another uni because I was afraid they won't give me admission to my department medicine (high competition),but luckily,my name came out in the school admission list. I went back to make changes to the school again,but it was closed (from jamb change of course/institution the school is no longer accepting changes). Now am on a high risk of losing even both as the new school I change to is not giving any sign of admission. What can I do here because without jamb admission letter,the school admission is of no use. Kindly assist if there's away from normalisation, transfer,or any changes you may have knowledge of. Please boss, I took jamb 2013, so university didn't offer me admission, so I went to my third choice which was college of education, now I'm done with it. The CBT center had to fill ACE for me instead of the NCE qualification that I have. I was bothered so I kept searching if I could find any help and I finally came across your write-up. DeleteI happened to register a profile to check on my jamb status but unfortunately for me I was not offered admission. In the process of creating a profile for my self I made use of 3 names meanwhile my jamb has 2 names on it, when I went for the regulization I complained jamb personal dey told me no problem with it dat the admission will carry my name on my jamb I wrote. Hope the profile I created won't affect my jamb regularization which has 2 names , bcos I prefer the name on my jamb registration

JAMB uses the recent DE information only.

If JAMB didn't give you admission in the year 2019, the system will not see your JAMB registration during DE registration. You have to use that only if or after you regularize your admission with the said JAMB number.

You can go do the regularization as soon as it's available. Then, when approved, take your NCE result to CBT to upload and change your qualification to NCE.

DeleteThat this was not the proper Option for registering direct entry, he also said this method has giving me a new jamb registration number, the will be no need for Regularization. All I can do is wait for jamb correction of bio-data to be announced to change from "other dip" to ND.
DeleteDon't worry yourself. If offered the DE admission, you don't have to worry about the regularization again. The DE registration number is what you will be using on and for your NYSC. What is important and the need for the regularization is to have a valid JAMB registration number.

I wanted to continue with my HND here but I was denied admission because I don't have jamb admission letter. I went to jamb office but they directed me to my school where I did ND. I have gone to my school and they told me that jamb will send me a code that I will use to print out my admission letter,this is since last year. I don't even know what to do anymore. ReplyDeleteI did jamb 2019 but jamb didn't give me admission but d school I chosed gave me admission during my school days before I finished my ND i was hoping jamb would give me admission. Later on we were told in school dat those dat were not given admission should fill a form so that d school will be able to submit it to the nearest jamb office at d school state.so later on thinking dat d school have done it ,I went on to apply for direct entry form unknowing for me the man dat was in charge of reg told me dat jamb said my reg no is not correct ,so I explained everything to the so the man choosed other dip for me instead of my own cert and e said I should go and do jamb regularisation before they can accept my de.
My question is dat do I need to go to the jamb office to lodge complaint since my school office had submitted the form we filled or I should just go to a nearby jamb centre or cafe to do the jamb regularisation
Normally, to do regularization, you should do that through a CBT center or JAMB office ack then, not through filling a school form. Talk to your school to know why the issue is.

ReplyDeleteIf you use that option, they'll ask for your result, for the uploading, of course. However, for the 2023 admission, OTHER DIPLOMA and awaiting results are not allowed by JAMB
