Candidates can link their emails on the very day they register for JAMB UTME or DE. They can also link them later, even after JAMB results are released or before main admission activities commence.
However, some candidates have claimed that even though they've linked their emails, they couldn't get the passwords to log in to the JAMB portal using the same emails.
That's what might have happened to a candidate who complained below:

Under normal circumstances, once the email is linked, you should receive the password to log into the JAMB portal through the email. But in their cases, they didn't receive such a password.
Similarly, some candidates try to reset their password using the emails linked but could not get the passwords as expected.

Reasons You Might Not Get JAMB Password With Your Email
1. You Might Have Linked The Email
Some candidates didn't even link emails in the first place. Just because they're hearing others are getting their JAMB passwords through email, they believe they should have the same in their emails too.
So, be sure you've linked your email with the JAMB portal first. One of the best ways to know is to check the JAMB registration slip or change of institutions/course slip and see if the email is appearing next to your phone number. If yes, it has indeed been linked. Otherwise, you must link it first before you can get the password through it.
2. You Linked a Wrong Email
Another issue is that some candidates linked the wrong email. If you've linked the wrong email, JAMB will not send the password to the correct email. The password will still be sent to the wrong email. Hence, you're stuck!
Here, you should consider using the wrong email to get the password using the SMS method. To do that, send an SMS in the following format to 55015/66019 at N50 charges. Format: text PASSWORD followed by a space and followed by the wrong email using the same SIM/line used to get your JAMB profile code e.g., PASSWORD [email protected].
3. You Created The Email After Linking
Some students linked the correct emails but the email were only created after they had done the linking. In this case, such students didn't create their emails before going to the CBT center to register for JAMB or link. They only created the emails after they've already completed the registration or the linking, which is like putting the cart before the horse. In this case, the only option to use is the SMS method explained above.
Conclusion
It won't matter if the email linked was wrong or created later after the linking, once you can get the password to your JAMB portal through the SMS, it's the same email together with the password received that you'll be using to access you JAMB portal without any negative effect on your admission.
