JAMB: Solution to "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)"

A few students have come across the error message "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)" while trying to generate their profile codes for the JAMB UTME or Direct Entry (DE) registration.

Despite this issue, it appears that the problem will persist unless specific troubleshooting steps are undertaken, which will be covered in this post.

While JAMB has officially released a guide to address this error/complaint, I have assisted some students in resolving this issue without necessitating a return visit to the NIMC office to lodge a complaint.

In this post, I will not only share JAMB's official solution but also provide direct guidance if:

  1. You are registering for JAMB UTME/DE for the first time.
  2. You are registering for JAMB UTME again using the same phone number as before.

JAMB Official Solution to "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)"

Ade Deji reported sending his NIN to the designated number, resulting in a deduction of funds without receiving the expected service. Supporting evidence in the form of a screenshot displaying the error message "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)" was provided.

In response, the JAMB official advised Ade Deji to email his actual NIN and full name to [email protected]. Additionally, Ade Deji was instructed to wait for four hours before attempting the process again.

Key Takeaway Points

  1. Ade Deji sent his National Identification Number (NIN) to a designated number (55019) but did not receive the profile code despite the deduction of money.
  2. Ade Deji provided a screenshot indicating an error message stating "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)".
  3. The JAMB official, in response, directed Ade Deji to email their actual NIN and Name to [email protected].
  4. Additionally, Ade Deji was instructed to wait for four hours before retrying the process.
  5. From this interaction, it is apparent that there was an issue with the initial submission of the NIN, leading to a deduction of money without successful processing. The error message indicates a potential technical glitch related to the retrieval or processing of the NIN data.

My Professional Solutions to JAMB First-Timers

If you are registering for JAMB for the first time, it implies that you are generating a JAMB profile code for the first time as well. If you encounter the error message "Unable to Charge. (ds.value.not-found)," consider the following troubleshooting tips, which have proven effective for others:

  1. Check your account balance to ensure you have at least N50 in the main account. Bonus balances will not suffice to obtain a profile code. If your account balance meets this requirement but you continue to encounter the error, proceed with the following steps.
  2. Remove your SIM card from the current phone and insert it into another device, preferably a basic button phone. Send your NIN followed by a space and then your actual NIN, for example: "NIN 24156728191".
  3. Alternatively, utilize a different SIM card entirely. If you possess a secondary phone line, utilize it for the registration process. If obtaining a new SIM card is feasible, consider purchasing one and retry sending your SMS as usual. In the absence of an additional SIM card, you may use a parent's phone line, ensuring that you input your own NIN in the SMS.

These steps are permissible and have been effective in resolving the issue for many first-time registrants.

My Professional Solution to JAMB Second or Third Timers

If you have previously obtained a profile code with the SIM card you are currently using, indicating that you have attempted JAMB registration in the past, you may encounter similar challenges as first-time registrants. However, there are additional steps you can take to retrieve your old profile code without the need to obtain a new one.

To retrieve your old profile code, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your previous JAMB profile or the JAMB portal using the link: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/login. On the dashboard, locate the ten-digit profile code displayed at the top, such as "1280xxxx46". Copy this code and use it to procure a PIN for your new JAMB registration. This method is guaranteed to work effectively.
  2. If you did not undergo the admission process last year after writing JAMB, you can create an email account if you do not already have one. Take this email to an accredited JAMB CBT center and request them to link it for you. Subsequently, you will receive an email containing your JAMB portal's password through the linked email. Then, utilize this password along with your email to log in to the JAMB portal and copy your previous profile code, as explained in step 1.
  3. If you did not proceed with JAMB registration after obtaining the profile code, you cannot utilize the method outlined in Step 2 above. In such cases, you may encounter difficulties.
  4. Additionally, for any of the scenarios mentioned above, you can check your records to ascertain whether the registration template provided to you at the CBT center is still accessible. Candidates were typically given a template at each CBT center to fill in their profile code, PIN, and other relevant information such as preferred schools and courses. Some candidates may still possess these templates, allowing them to retrieve the profile codes written on them.
