How to Know If You're Offered Admission

After obtaining the Osun State University JUPEB form for an online client, the lady asked how to know when she is offered admission. For many other students, they want to know how they will be informed when they're offered admissions into part-time programs, full-time programs, pre-degree programs, school of nursing, etc.

What's your own situation? Are you waiting for JAMB admission offer, school admission offers, or any other admission offer as listed above? How will you know when offered admission?

In this post, I will be guiding you on how you can expect to know when a school finally offers you admission - be it for the IJMB, JUPEB, predegree, Nursing, Health tech etc.

The post will not specifically talk about a school or a particular program; it will address a variety of methods through which schools update their applicants when offered admission. I'm sure one of the methods to be shared here will help you know yours.

JAMB Has Its Portal for Students to Know When Offered Admission

The dedicated website for all students expecting JAMB admission offers is https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/Login. This is the platform you're expected to log in to and navigate through to the CAPS section. There, you'll be able to monitor and know when offered admission by JAMB.

Of course, there is always a timeline between the time you apply for JAMB, apply for or partake in a school's post-UTME/screening and the time the JAMB CAPS will let you know if you're offered admission.

Hence, if you check CAPS and you see "Not admitted", that is not saying you're not going to be offered admission eventually. As long as your proposed school is still offering admission, you get to wait. The status may soon change to "admitted".

School Admission Offer Should Be Seen on the Admission Portal

If you're trying to know when the school will offer you admission, the best platform is right on your school's admission portal. This is the same portal where you registered for the post UTME/screening.

All it will need is to log in to that page and navigate to any dedicated link to check the admission status. Right there, you'll be able to monitor and know your fate. This, like on the JAMB CAPS, may take time before changing to the pleasant news.

JAMB and Some Schools May Send Email Notice

When offered admission, we have seen cases where JAMB and schools send SMS and/or emails to inform the lucky students. Some schools, e.g., Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomoso, Federal Polytechnic Ede, etc., have been motherly enough to send emails to their lucky aspirants when offered admissions.

However, not all students will receive this JAMB email or SMS, and not all aspirants may be contacted by the schools via email. Hence, don't rely on this means. Keep checking the JAMB CAPS and the school's dedicated link/page to avoid missing out.

There is a dedicated method to check JAMB admission offer through SMS too. This, unlike receiving SMS from the board without your personal prompt, will require you to send a message to the dedicate number, "55019". After this, you'll receive a message informing if you've been offered admission by the board. Sending STATUS and YEAR e.g. STATUS 2023 to 55019, will do the magic.

For Pre-degree, IJMB, JUPEB, School of Nursing, or Health Tech Admission

Experience has shown that schools that run predgree, IJMB and JUPEB (A'level), Nursing and Health Tech programs, apart from having dedicated portals/links for applicants to follow their admission updates, are more likely to send emails/SMS when you're offered admission.

Universities such as Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Osun State University, etc., for their pre-degree and A'level courses, will send emails to the applicants to inform them of the admission offers.

Schools of nursing and colleges of health may send such emails. Yet, it's not uncommon to see them pasting the lists in the administrative block or admission office's wall. For example, the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital School of Nursing will usually paste the list on a board within the school premises.

Conclusion

Staying proactive and checking both the JAMB CAPS and your school's admission portal regularly is crucial. While some may receive notifications through emails or SMS, it's essential not to solely rely on these means to avoid missing out on admission updates.
