In this post, I will not only be shedding light on the major misconception about the so-called "Nigeria Airforce University" but will answer the above-listed questions and much more.
Nigerian Airforce University Is Also The Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA)
In case you don't know or you're confused, there is actually no university called the "Nigerian Airforce University". Apart from its secondary schools, the Nigerian Airforce has other higher institutions of learning such as its Nursing and Midwifery School, and Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Kaduna State. However, its university is actually under the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
Let's break this down.
NDA is jointly owned by the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce, and Nigerian Navy. These are all under the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Whereas, they don't own or run the university under a different umbrella or management rather they're run under the Nigerian Defence Academy, which is situated at Crock city, Kaduna, Kaduna State.
It's safe to say that NDA trains students and produces graduate personnel for Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce, and Nigerian Navy.
Therefore, if you're interested in becoming an Airforce military officer through its higher institution of learning, you'll have to pick up the NDA form and make Airforce your choice.

Choosing the Nigerian Airforce in NDA
While filling out the NDA application form, you're allowed to choose two from the three categories given.
The three categories are:
- Nigerian Army
- Nigerian Airforce
- Nigerian Navy
An aspirant can make:
- the Nigerian Army as both the first and second choice
- the Nigerian Airforce as both the first and second choice
- the Nigerian Navy as both the first and second choice
- the Nigerian Army as the first with Nigerian Airforce as the second
- the Nigerian Army as the first with the Nigerian Navy as the second
- the Nigerian Navy as the first with the Nigerian Army as the second
- the Nigerian Navy as the first with the Nigeria Airforce as the second
- the Nigerian Airforce as the first with the Nigerian Army as the second
- the Nigerian Airforce as the first with the Nigeria Navy as the second
As you can see, the choice is entirely yours. You're FREE!

Choosing the Nigerian Airforce in JAMB
This section is not only guiding you on how to select Nigerian Airforce in the JAMB, but it's also affirming that if you must process admission into NDA (where you'll make Nigerian Airforce a choice), you must obtain JAMB UTME.
JAMB is not only compulsory, you must choose NDA as either your first or second choice or both, during the registration.
Whereas, candidates seeking admission through the JAMB direct entry should look elsewhere as the Defence Academy is (to date) not accepting DE applications because it's not absorbing students from the 200-level rather from the 100-level.
Of course, during the JAMB registration, you won't state that it's the Airforce you prefer. You'll only make that choice when filling out the NDA form (as earlier noted). Generally, whether a candidate prefers Army, Airforce, or Navy, NDA will be the only choice available in the JAMB form.

After JAMB Registration and NDA Application
Needless to say, you'll take JAMB and should pass it to be qualified for the NDA entrance exams too.
Speaking of passing the UTME, the JAMB score of 180 (at least) is required for Arts and Social Sciences and Science while Engineering courses require 210 or above.
A similar thing to commit to mind is writing the right subjects in JAMB for the proposed course. If an error should crop in here, it may deny you admission eventually.

Conclusion
While seeking admission to the Nigerian Airforce University, so to say, what you're looking for is the Nigerian Defence Academy. Airforce is under the ambit of the NDA too just like the Navy and Army.
Needless to repeat, the admission process and requirements, as stated by NDA, affect and are applicable to all the choices under it.
