Nature of FUTA Post UTME for Prospective Undergraduates

Ok, let’s talk about the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) admission process.

Are you an aspirant of the Federal University of Technology, Akure? Do you just want to consider the university in UTME or during the change of institution? But before that, you want to be sure if its candidates will be subjected to taking post-UTME before being offered admission or if the university uses the admission screening method instead.

It’s based on this that you will know whether to go ahead and what to prepare for.

Well, this post is here to guide you beyond answering “YES” or “NO”.

In plain language, FUTA conducts post-JAMB tests for her aspirants before admissions are offered.

RecommendedTrue Nature of Post UTME and Subject Combination

In other words, prepare to take part in the university's computer-based test that is scheduled to hold days/weeks after you’ve completed the online registration.

However, for the first time in years, after conducting post-UTME in 2022/2023 admission, it was reported that the computers used malfunctioned massively which led to the cancellation of the test. As a result, the management resolved the screening method - there used candidates' O'level results and UTME scores to grade them for admission.

There is no reference to say that, for years to come, FUTA will continue using the screening method. It's safe to say that the university will return to its post-UTME after this.

Let’s see the full picture of how the FUTA Post-UTME or admission exercise will take.

Nature of FUTA's Post UTME for Prospective Undergraduates

  1. The management will announce the sales of the university post UTME form online.
  2. Applicants are usually required to obtain the forms through the bank or the online Remita platform
  3. You’re to fill out the online form with your O’level results and JAMB score. Even though the JAMB information must have been obtained directly from JAMB, the O'level will have to be filled by candidates during the post-UTME registration
  4. Candidates are equally required to download sample past questions for the university post-UTME after the completion of their Post UTME. However, the past questions may not be available at the time you're reading this post. You can still get a verified and printed copy from those who had attempted the test in the past or right within the university's premises.
  5. After the online application, candidates should print slips containing their schedules for the computer-based test. The schedule may not be immediate. You will need to check the portal back for reprinting when all is set. You will be tested in usually English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, and General Papers. The test is meant for both UTME and DE applicants
  6. After the test, your results should be out for printing in a couple of days.
  7. The management will later release the official cut-off marks for the admission year. If you meet up or beat the cut-off mark for your course, you can be sure you’re already admitted.
  8. The university will upload the list of admitted applicants to the JAMB CAPS. There, you will be able to check if offered admission, accept it, and print the JAMB admission letter.
  9. The university will later upload the same lists to her portal for aspirants to accept and pay the acceptance fee.

Conclusion

FUTA is very transparent with its admission process. Candidates must just have it in their minds that they will write exams and meet the cut-off marks before any hope.

The decision whether or not to conduct Post-UTME or screening exercises by the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) ultimately rests with the institution's management.

While it is important to consider factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, strikes, massive computer failures, and the need to ensure fair and transparent admission processes, the ultimate goal should be to select the best candidates who have the potential to excel in their chosen fields of study.
