Can I Use My Old O'level Results for Admission?

Especially for those who had written WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE in the past, asking if they can use their old results for admissions is common.

This dilemma really concerns candidates seeking admissions through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, schools of Nursing, and colleges of health technology.

A few other applicants, with old NCE, ND, HND, or BSC, may also want to know if they can still process admissions, especially the Direct Entry, with their dated results. If you belong here, read, "Can I Use Old Results for Direct Entry (DE) Application?" instead.

Meanwhile, some of my earlier posts had directly addressed the related concerns. You may want to check the one that concerns you in the links below.

You Can Use Old O'level Results for Admission

For those who are contemplating whether their old SSCE/O'level results are still valid for admission, this section and the rest of the post are for you. Your O'level result will never expire!

You heard me right. Whether for admission, scholarship, or job purpose, your SSCE result is valid as long as you're alive.

If you're having a result as old as any year, you can use that to process admission.

Although, some schools of Nursing and specialized schools such as the Nigerian Defence Academy, Nigerian Police Academy, etc, may state in their advertisements that they may not accept candidates with certain years of O'level results.

Apart from this, generally, all schools; universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education will accept your dated results.

Conclusion

Candidates who might be thinking that their old SSCE/O'level results would not be accepted for admissions should be aware that that's not true.

Every school will accept dated WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE for admissions except on rare occasions where the admission adverts may state otherwise (as already noted in the post).

Wishing you luck!
