No NIN Given Yet, Can I Register JAMB Anyway?

UPDATE: JAMB has started the use of National ID Card NIN for the 2021/2022 UTME/DE registration. Hence, you need to register before proceeding to register your JAMB.

Best wishes!

It’s certain that all prospective admission seekers must have NIN before registering the UTME or DE. That is your answer if you're asking if you can register JAMB without NIN.

Simple NO.

A few Candidates Have Not Got the NIN

However, some candidates had registered for the National ID cards but yet, the enrollment slips containing the NINs were not ready.

Let me break this down further.

Some candidates had registered for the National ID cards. Upon the completion of the registrations, the centres gave them the first enrollment slips. These slips contain tracking numbers but not the NINs that will be used for JAMB form (PIN) purchases and registrations.

First enrollment slip containing the tracking number

People are usually instructed by NIMC staff to return a few days or weeks later to collect the second enrollment slips on which the NINs will be.

Now, candidates are worried that JAMB forms may close before the second enrollment slips will be made available to them. They’re asking is there any other way around this? Or they can just proceed to CBT centre for the registrations taking along the slip with a tracking number?

This post will be your best guide.

JAMB Form Will Be On Sales For Enough Period

Candidates should not panic as the JAMB UTME/DE form will remain on sale for about six weeks. Starting from April 8 till May 15, you should be able to get the NIN slip before the closing time.

Hence, candidates should just be sure they register for the National ID card within a reasonable period.

If you've registered but the NIN is not given yet, you can dial the designated USSD (on the line used for the National ID card registration). Dial *346# on your phone to retrieve it.

This will also help you if you have lost your national ID Card (NIN) or forgot it.

Priority Will Be Given To JAMB Candidates at NIMC Centres

JAMB and NIMC have collaborated. Hence, they’d agreed on giving priority and preferential treatment to prospective admission seekers when they go for the National ID card registrations.

Hence, candidates should be bold to inform the officials that they need their NINs for JAMB registration. This should provide you a quick response and print of your NIN slip.

JAMB Has Mapped Up With NIMC Centres

Just as it’s possible to register your National ID card at CBT centre where NIMC stands are available, you can also request the print of the NIN slip if you already have an enrollment slip with a tracking number.

NIMC enrollment centres mapped with CBT Centres are to attend to candidates who may come for UTME/DE registration but do not yet have National Identification Number (NIN)

JAMB would provide transportation to such candidates to and fro the mapped NIMC enrollment centre at no cost to the candidates. This is according to JAMB.

Mapping Notice by JAMB
This is contained in the report of the Stakeholders’ Meeting Between JAMB & CBT Centre Proprietors, dated Thursday, 19th December 2019.

Hence, if it gets difficult to have your NIN slip printed at the first enrollment centre, you can walk into any accredited CBT with NIMC stand and ask for the second slip containing the NIN.
