Art courses are rare in Polytechnics. Hope you know that? Art departments are not as common in the Polys as the engineering-related courses. The reason for this is because Polytechnics are primarily founded to train and groom students for the technical fields rather than in art and humanity, physical or medical science.
For example, you won’t find Law, Philosophy, Linguistics, English, Literature, Communication, and Language Arts, History and International Studies, etc in any polytechnic in Nigeria. They belong to the universities. However, some polytechnics still retain a few Art courses you can go for.
Among the available courses opened to art students in polytechnics are Mass Communication, Library and Information Science/Management, Public Administration, Local Government Studies, etc.
This post will address these courses one after the other, the polytechnics where you can study them, their O’level subject requirements, and UTME subject combination.

Now, what are the polytechnics offering Art courses which he can consider during JAMB UTME registration?

Who is an Art Student?
An Art candidate belongs to the so-called art class while in secondary school. As a result, he was taught the likes of Government, Literature-in-English, Civil Education, Islamic/Arabic Studies (IRS), or Christian Religion Studies/knowledge (IRS). These subjects prepare him for the related courses in the future, especially while in the university, polytechnic, or college of education.Hence, he sits for the above-mentioned subjects among others while writing his final secondary school examination. These are the subjects he must have in his NECO, WAEC, NABTEB, or NABIS.
