While registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or Direct Entry (DE), you may want to consider the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State. The university may also come to mind if you're trying to change institutions/courses.

There are important things to note on any of the above occasions. You should be certain if the university has the proposed course, the UTME subjects required for it, the SSCE subjects that are compulsory for the course, and in the case of the DE applicants, the base course and grade required.

Important Guidelines to Study the Brochure

1. For better understanding, below, you will see the names of the courses. And below each course, you will see the Direct Entry requirement numbered 1, SSCE i.e. WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB subjects requirements numbered 2 with UTME subjects numbered 3.
2. Where the DE requirement states "A'level". This includes Advanced qualifications such as JUPEB, IJMB, Cambridge, etc. Just be sure you know the one being accepted by the university
3. Only three UTME subjects will be included in each course. This is because English is general to all courses. Hence, it's not repeated to save spaces.

List of Courses Offered at the Federal University, Otuoke, their DE, UTME, and SSCE Requirement

1. Accounting And Finance

1. Two (2)'A' Level passes including Economics.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
3. Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject

2. Banking And Finance

1. (i) Two (2)'A' Level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject. (ii) NCE merit in relevant subjects. (iii) ND credit. (iv) Foundation International exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.
2. Five (5)SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
3. Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject

3. Biochemistry

1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology. NCE/ND/HND in related programmes plus the UTME requirements.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
3. Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

4. Biology

1. i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes from Chemistry, Biology, Botany/Zoology. (ii) NCE merit accepted.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics/Physics.
3. Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

5. Business Administration

1. Two (2)'A' Level passes including Economics.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
3. Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject

6. Business Education

1. (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes or NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects. (ii) NCE merit in Business Education Double Major. 
2. Five (5) TC II merit, 'O' Level or NTC/NBC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other subjects in the Social Sciences or Arts. For NBC, the other subjects could be from any of the following: Commerce, Office Practice, Principles of Accounts, Secretarial Duties, Typewriting and Shorthand
3. Mathematics, Economics plus one (1) of Literature in English, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry and Physics.

7. Chemical Engineering

1. 'A' Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language and any other Science subject.
3. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

8. Chemistry

1. i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. (ii)  ND/NCE with good grades in relevant 'O' Level subjects.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
3. Chemistry and two (2) of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

9. Civil Engineering

1. (i) 'A' Level passes in Physics and Mathematics. (ii) ND/HND upper credit at appropriate levels.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one Science subject
3. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

10. Computer Science And Informatics

1. (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in science subjects including Mathematics (ii) NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) other Science or Social Science subject.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two (2) other Science subjects.
3. Mathematics, Physics and one (1) of Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography.

11. Economics And Development Studies

1. ND/NCE with upper/merit  credit in the relevant programme in addition to five (5) credit passes  at  SSC  at not more than two (2) sittings
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and at least two (2) other  relevant  subjects from   Commerce, Government and Accounting .
3. Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French and CRS/IRS.

12. Education And Chemistry

1. Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes including Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject.
2. Five (5) SSC credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language and two (2) of Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science.
3. Chemistry and two (2) other subjects chosen from Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

13. Education And History

1. Two (2) NCE merit/'A' Level passes in History and one (1) other relevant Arts subject.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, History and three (3) relevant Arts subjects.
3. History and any other two (2) subjects chosen from Christian Religious Studies / Islamic Studies, Literature in English, French, Yoruba, Geography/Physics, Economics, Government and Hausa.

14. Education And Mathematics

1. Two (2)'A' Level passes/NCE in Mathematics and one (1) Science subject.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics plus one (1) other Science subject.
3. Mathematics and any two (2) of the following Science subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

15. Education And Physics

1. (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Physics and Mathematics. (ii) NCE credit/merit in relevant subjects.
2. Five (5) 'O' Level credits passes to include English Language, Physics, Mathematics and two (2) other Science subjects or NTC/NBC.
3. Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry plus one (1) other subjects.

16. Electrical/Electronics Engineering

1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other Science subject.
3. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

16. English Language And Communication Studies

1. Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts subject.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Literature in English, English Language and three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
3. Literature in English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject

17. Entrepreneurship

1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes to include Economics and at least one of, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Mathematics.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one Science subject and one other Social Science or Commercial subject.
3. Economics, Mathematics and one other Social Science or Commercial subject.

18. Marketing

1. Two (2)'A' Level passes including Economics.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
3. Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject

19. Mathematics

1. i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject. (ii) NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) of Physics, Chemistry or Economics
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.
3. Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Economics or Geography.

20. Mathematics And Statistics

1. (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry (ii) NCE merit in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three(3) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional/Further Mathematics.
3. Maths, Physics and Chemistry or Biology

21. Mechanical Engineering

1. (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. (ii) ND upper credit, NCE technical and HND in Mech. Engineering.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject.
3. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

22. Mechatronics Engineering

1. 'A' Level passes in any two (2) of  Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry ,English Language and any other Science subject.
3. Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

23. Microbiology

1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) from Biology, Zoology or Botany.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
3. Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

24. Petroleum And Gas Engineering

1. 'A' Level passes to include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
2. Five (5) SSC credits to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any one Science subject.
3. Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics

25. Physics With Electronics

1. NCE/Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other Science subject from Further Mathematics and Biology or Agricultural Science.
3. Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology.

26. Political Science

1. Two (2) A' Level passes to include Government or History.
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Government/History and any other three (3) subjects from Arts/Social Sciences with at least 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.
3. Government/History and two (2) other Social Sciences or Arts subjects.

27. Sociology And Anthropology

1. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, History/Government/Economics one Science subject and any Arts or Social Science subject
2. Government/ History plus two (2) other Social Sciences/Arts subject

28. Statistics

1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics.
2. NCE credit in relevant subjects.
3. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three (3) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
4. Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Economics.
