There is a need to ask how many hours or minutes will be given for an exam. Knowing that will help you prepare adequately, practicing questions to meet the expected time frame.

As such, admission seekers into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) will want to know the duration given by the academy for its entrance exams, among other things.

And of course, if you've taken JAMB before or are about to, you would love to be reminded that the time for UTME is 2 hours in all. What about NDA? Will NDA also allocate up to 2 hours or more?

Well, in this post, you'll not only learn the hours allocated for your NDA exam, but you'll also gain further insights regarding the exam. Check the last part of the post for tips on managing your time.

NDA Exam is Taken For 3 Hours

Even if you've been studying the past question and answers pack of the academy, you might not have come across the exam duration. But I'm here to tell you that the academy will give students a good 3 hours to write their exams.

Below is an excerpt from the 2023 live question booklet where it's clearly stated that the period for the exam is 3 hours.
With that said, the academy has been consistent with the time frame ever since it started conducting its entrance exams. So, there is no doubt that this year too, candidates will have the same duration.

The 3 Hours is For 120 Questions

In total, NDA sets 120 questions for its test takers. Students will be tested compulsorily on the Use of English, and then on three other related subjects to their proposed courses at the academy.

While each subject has 40 questions, students are expected to distribute the use of the 3 hours among the 120 questions and 4 subjects.

Experience has shown that, with adequate preparation for the exam, some students have submitted their papers before the given end time. As such, the time should be ample for you.

Tips for Time Management:

  1. Practice Time-Based Mock Tests: Familiarize yourself with the exam format and time constraints by practicing mock tests under timed conditions.
  2. Allocate Time Wisely: Prioritize questions based on difficulty and marks allotted. Don't spend too much time on a single question; move on if you get stuck.
  3. Skim Through Before Starting: Quickly glance through all questions before beginning to solve them. This will give you an idea of what to expect and how to plan your time.
  4. Keep an Eye on the Clock: Regularly check the time during the exam to ensure you're on track. Allocate time for each section and stick to it.
  5. Manage Stress: Stay calm and focused throughout the exam. Don't panic if you encounter difficult questions. Take deep breaths and tackle each question methodically.
  6. Review Your Answers: If time permits, go back and review your answers to ensure accuracy. It's better to spend a few extra minutes reviewing than to submit incomplete or incorrect responses.
