Does UNILAG Accept Two Sittings For Its Admissions?

I've got this briefed in my post on how to gain admission into the University of Lagos. If you haven't read that, you might have to see that brief reference.'

But when I received queries from prospective UNILAG students asking if they could use two sittings of WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE for the university admission, I realized there was a need to dedicate a separate post to answer this concern.

Especially when a student argued with me that other bloggers said otherwise, I thought you guys will need more proof before you will accept my position on using two results (sittings) for UNILAG admission.

Let's explore this.

UNILAG Won't Accept Two Sitting For Its Undergrade Full-Time Admissions

Hope you know that UNILAG, like any other university, runs more programs - undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time, distance learning, etc.

The undergraduate full-time program is the one you pursue with JAMB UTME/DE. UNILAG won't admit candidates with two sittings to its full-time courses through JAMB.

Yes, you heard that right. And if you ask for my evidence. Let me share a caption with you from the 2023 UNILAG post-UTME/DE advert - just like years before that.

As you can see the university is not hiding its position on the acceptance of only one sitting contrary to what you might have read or heard from anywhere else.

UNILAG Won't Accept Two Sittings For Its Foundation (JUPEB) Program Too

Another popular University of Lagos program is called the "Foundation course". This is the university JUPEB program which lasts nine months and gives students admission into the 20-level of intended or qualified courses. 

Since this course/program will lead to offering candidates admission into year two of the university full-time program, the same condition, just as for the UTME candidates, is applicable. You'll need only one SSCE result to be admitted here too.

UNILAG Accepts Two Sittings For Other Programs

Apart from entering UNILAG for a full-time (UTME and DE) program, there are other programs that will accept two O'level results. For example, the UNILAG Distance learning program, Sandwich/Part-time program, IMS certificate course, Diploma, etc., accept two sittings.

Let me show you this.

2022 (like the year before and mostly likely after) DLI advert requires applicants to have at least five required SSCE subjects in not more than two sittings.

In other words, two results are accepted for the DLI program.

Similar to that is the UNILAG requirements for its evening, part-time/sandwich program which is okay to apply with two results.

According to its recent advert, 

Holders with higher qualifications and secondary leavers must possess WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (‘O’ Level) or its equivalent with credit in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics plus any other three (3) relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

As you can see, this evening/part-time/sandwich program will admit you with two O'level results.

Conclusion

If you've carefully followed me up to this level, you'll understand that if the university program is full-time, one sitting is a must and that affects admission through JAMB UTME or Direct Entry.

Luckily candidates who will consider distance learning, part-time and certificate courses will be admitted with two sittings.
