When trying to check your WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB results, you may encounter various errors like "Result Not Available," "Invalid Card Details," "Website Can't Be Reached," or issues related to card usage, each requiring specific solutions such as verifying your exam details, ensuring proper internet connection, or purchasing a new e-PIN if the card has been used too many times.
Imagine you try to check your results, then you're greeted with any of these errors:
- Result Not Available for the Candidates this Year
- INVALID CARDS SUPPLIED (Incorrect PIN or Serial Number)
- Website Can't Be Reached Error (Connection Interrupted)
- Cards Already Used by Another Candidate
- Cards are Already Being Used for the maximum number times Allowed
Let's take each of these errors (and a few others) one after the other and proffer the right solutions to them.
1. Result Not Available for the Candidate This Year
This error usually occurs when a student enters the wrong Examination number, exam type, or year of the exams. If instead of 2021, you enter 2020, you're likely to see this error. If you enter the examination number that doesn't exist at all, you'll be greeted with the same complaint. Also, if you choose the wrong exam type - that is, you choose the private candidate instead of the school candidate and vice versa.
When a candidate asked from WAEC,
I went to the WAEC portal and filled in the required details only to see a page telling me there is no result for the candidate in the specified year. Please what do I do?
The response was somewhat open-ended.
We advise you to keep checking at intervals because the website may be updated subsequently or visit the nearest WAEC office for assistance.
With my experience as a consultant and a cafe manager for years, what you need to do is check if the year, exam number, and the type of the exam very well and be sure they all match before hitting the check button.
In fact, if you enter an existing exam number but not yours, you'll end up checking another person's results and the card is wasted. Get back a lost exam or seat number.

2. Invalid Card Details
This error will show up when checking the result with the wrong PIN and/or serial number. The e-PIN may be wrong. The serial number may be wrong. In fact, both may be wrong.
Kindly check the digits in the PIN and serial number fields to be sure they're both correct. This will solve the issue.

3. Website Can't Be Reached Error
This error or a similar one can occur if the congestion on the website is high. Usually, in the early days of checking results, candidates may be facing connection-related issues.
When a student asked WAEC about this,
I have been trying to check my result but the WAEC page is not loading?
WAEC's answer was comprehensive
Please be informed that it could either be your internet connection that is not connecting properly or as a result of the high traffic to the result checking site. We advise you give it some time before trying again. www.waecdirect.org
Hence, for this error:
- just be sure that your internet connection is good and you have browsing data
- you may wait for a few hours before retrying. Checking overnight or early in the morning may help
4. Cards Already Used by Another Candidate
This error would show if the PIN/Serial Number you're using to check the result had been used for another exam number. It might be you or another candidate. The access PIN had been activated for a particular exam number other than the one you're trying to use it for right now.
And since one e-PIN can only be used by one exam number, this will be your error. Hence, buy a new card to access your results.
According to the exams body,
You can only use one e-PIN Voucher to check one result. To check another result of interest, you will require a new e-PIN Voucher. If you misuse an e-PIN Voucher by attempting to check another result different from yours, you will have to purchase another one to check your result.
Note also that a result checker e-PIN Voucher purchased in the previous year is still valid for use in the next year but you can only use one e-PIN Voucher to check one result. To check another (different) result, you will require a new e-PIN Voucher

5. Card Already Used for the Maximum Number of Times Allowed
The error can also read "'RESULT CHECKER COUNT EXCEEDED (5)". You'll see this error when the time of use of your card i.e the PIN/serial number or TOKEN (in case of NECO) has reached five times. In other words, once your usage of the cards had reached its maximum number of five times, this is the error to expect.
What you might not know was while making an attempt to check your result but you were receiving network errors or the website couldn't be reached error, the website was already counting the number of uses.
According to NECO,
You may check your result up to a maximum of 5 (five) times with the use of 1 (one) e-PIN. In order to check further after exhausting the allowed 5 (five) times, you will need to purchase another e-PIN which will entitle you to another 5 (five) result checks.
Hence, buy a new card/token to print the same result. To get a new PIN/serial or TOKEN to check your result, chat with me on WhatsApp (08065152292). See the prices of available cards here.

6. Another Candidate's Result Displayed After Checking My Result
This is never an error from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB. It's definitely your mistake. You must have entered another student's exam number.
A student also asked the same question.
I checked my WAEC result with the center and Examination number being given to me but I saw someone else's result. Please help
In its reply, WAEC opened up where the candidate might have mixed things up
Please be informed that WAEC examination numbers are reused every year and the only unique difference is the examination year. Please change the exam year to the year you took your exam. However, you will have to purchase a new WAEC result checker e-PIN Voucher to do this. Thank you.
That talked about exam year errors that could fetch another student's results.
Another area in which the candidate might have made mistake is the exam number. The center may be the same but if you make mistake in the last three digits (representing your seat number in WAEC or NABTEB), you'll end up checking another candidate's result.

7. Outstanding and Pending Displayed Among my Grades
This is not an error so to say. The exam bodies may not release some results due to certain concerns. This might be the reason you're still seeing OUTSTANDING or PENDING in some or all your results.
A candidate asked this.
My result is displaying outstanding. Please help as I need it for admission.
Accordingly, here was the WAEC's response.
Kindly note that results that are outstanding can be traced to various issues. You can keep checking the portal for updates on outstanding results. Thank you.
