NATIONAL TEACHERS' INSTITUTE KADUNA (NTI) ADMISSION FORM FOR THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR
The National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna was one of the distance learning options I recommended for candidates who wanted to consider crossing from polytechnic to university for degree courses. And in a similar post, I guided HND and BSC holders who wanted to change their disciplines to education to consider NTI.
It's time to talk about this institute and give all you must know about its program before considering them for admission.
About NTI Kaduna
NTI is a single-mode distance education institution dedicated to teacher training. It was established in 1976 by the Federal Government primarily because of the pressing need in the country for trained and qualified teaching staff at all levels of the educational system. With headquarters situated at KM 5 Kaduna – Zaria Express Way, Rigachikun, PMB 2191 Kaduna, Nigeria, the institute now has a studies centre across the nation.

Prospects of Studying at NTI Kaduna
Strictly at any of the available study centres, NTI admits applicants into various academic programs leading to an award of education e.g. Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), etc.
NTI academic awards/qualifications are as recognized as qualifications from any university, college of education, or institute in Nigeria. And in most cases, their graduates could be given priority while seeking teaching positions.

First, let's break things down to the list of available courses at the nearest centres. Below the list, I explain more - who can apply, how to apply, and the requirements for admission/entry.
- Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE)

- Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
- Advanced Diploma in Education ADE Advanced Diploma in Environmental Education ADEE
- Pivotal Teacher Training Programme PTTP
- Continuing Professional Development CPD
- The Capacity Building Programmes
I will equally restrict my explanation to four of these as the focus of the post is to help prospective applicants make immediate admission decisions.
1. NTI Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE)
NTI offers admission into a 3-year NCE course like every other college of education in Nigeria. There are study centres across the nation where you can attend and obtain your qualification on a part-time and distance learning basis. NOTE that NCE is now the minimum qualification for all teachers in our schools.
As such, to be admitted, candidates must:
- N.C.E Entry Requirements
- The MAIN requirement is 5 Credits passes in any of the following certificates. One of the Credit passes MUST be in the Subject for which the candidate intends to make it his chosen Teaching Subject.
- Grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC-II)
- Pivotal Teachers’ Certificate (PTC)
- West African School Certificate (WASC)
- National Examination Council (NECO-SSCE)
- General Certificate Examination (GCE)
- National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) Certificate
- Higher Islamic Studies Certificate (HISC)
- Existing teachers with Five (5) Years of Teaching Experience but who are without the number of Credit passes mentioned above can be considered.
The last option may be more relevant to grade II candidates who had been teaching. Since the qualification is longer for teaching, they may choose to further to acquire NCE.

NTI PGDE is officially affiliated with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The programme is targeted at graduates of other disciplines who do not possess a professional teaching qualification but are currently teaching or intend to teach in the future.
By this, it means, if admitted, candidates will be attended through the National Open University of Nigeria distance learning centre and awarded therethrough. Under normal circumstances, you should be able to request for that through your study center. Otherwise, there should be a dedicated link to request for it on the school portal.
DeletePlease sir, do you know what is happening concerning our certificate?
ReplyDeleteAll the graduands of nti bachelor's degree program since 2017 till date have not been given Certificate.
No certificate, no exclusion letter from nysc scheme!
I am appealing to the concerned stakeholders of nti to find a lasting solution to this issue of Certificate delay.
I am supposed to have completed my masters degree by now but l was disqualified at the screening venue because of nysc exclusion letter.
Finally, I am supposed be in Oman by now as a Mathematics Teacher I was equally disqualified because of my original certificate and nysc exclusion letter.
The same thing is applicable to some of the graduands. some needed the certificate to upgrade themselves but were unable to present it.
I am appealing once again to nti stakeholders that may come across this message to use their good office to address this issue.
NTI please, "make hay while the sun shine"
Please how can I apply for post graduate,I have obtained my HND
