With Awaiting Result, Can I Change Institutions/Courses?

I got you a dedicated post on waiting results for UTME candidates and another for the Direct entry (DE) applicants. But in brief here, awaiting results are SSCE exams written or about to be written with the grades not yet released by the exams body. For example, if you write WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE and you’re yet to see it released, it’s termed awaiting result. Whereas, admission seekers are allowed to use this while applying for UTME at our various CBT centres. By that, they won’t supply their grades or scan it for upload (since it is not yet released). Such candidates, though, are required to visit any CBT centre as soon as their results are released for uploading if they must be offered admissions. Now, the concern here is: JAMB changing of institutions is on, you want to do it but you’re worried if that is possible since you are awaiting O’level results. You can Do Change of Institutions/Courses Even with Awaiting Results That’s so simple!

Don’t mind me for releasing nearly endless posts on JAMB's changing of institutions and courses exercise.

The truth is, this should be the avenue for candidates to mend up for several mistakes they made during the UTME registration. Yet, they still make fresh errors if care isn’t taken at this level. This is why I want to answer a question asked by one of my blog readers.

I didn’t take it seriously until another person called this morning to know if awaiting results candidates can also do the change of institutions and courses.

In other words, if you used awaiting results during the UTME registration and by now your result is not out, can you go ahead with the JAMB change of institutions/courses?

Let’s get it clear.

What is the Awaiting Result?

I got you a dedicated post on waiting results for UTME candidates and another for the Direct Entry (DE) applicants. But in brief, awaiting results are SSCE exams written or about to be written with the grades not yet released by the exams body.

For example, if you write WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE and you’re yet to see it released, it’s termed an "awaiting result".

Whereas, admission seekers are allowed to use this while applying for UTME/DE at our various CBT centres. By that, they won’t supply their grades or scan them for uploading (since it is not yet released).

Students who are awaiting results may still apply for admission into tertiary institutions, but they must indicate that they are awaiting results during the application process.

Such candidates, though, are required to visit any CBT centre as soon as their results are released for uploading if they must be offered admission eventually.

Now, the concern here is: the JAMB changing of institutions and courses is on, you want to do it but you’re worried that it won't be possible since you are awaiting your O’level results.

You Can Change Institutions/Courses Even With Awaiting Results

That’s so simple!

In case you’re curious to know more or how changing of Institutions is actually different from uploading of O’level results and they don’t have anything directly to do with each other.

The purpose of your changes is to select a new set of institutions/courses you prefer this time. While the O’level results are necessary to measure if you will be offered admission by JAMB and your school when the admission offering time comes.

JAMB uses your results to moderate the admission while the school uses them to determine whether to admit you. However, the board needs your changes to know which school it will process you for while the school uses changes to know if you chose them at all and for which course.

If you change institutions/courses even though you're awaiting results, what matters here is to make sure you return to the JAMB portal and upload the result immediately after it’s released and the required grades are met. JAMB won’t need that during the change of institutions/courses exercise.

And if after the changes, your O’level is not satisfactory, you won’t be blamed or penalized for the changes you have made. No O’level results, no admission. Simple!

Conclusion

Go ahead and do the changes. Then, when your result is out, visit the nearest CBT center for uploading.

End of story!

    1. Yes. You can use any other two. You should wait for NECO before you decide which one to upload.
