Police Recruitment: Required Documents/Items (Updated)

Filling out the form may not be like any other you’d come across on the internet. It requires you to have some documents handy before you sit by your computer or mobile device and fill out the form. Below are these documents and what formats they are required.

These documents can be original or printed from the internet or photocopied.

1. SSCE (O’level) Results

The acceptable SSCE includes WAEC, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB. You can also apply with two sittings of this O'level in any possible combination.

The papers must be scanned and uploaded to the appropriate sections of the form.

2. Passport Photo

A passport photograph of the applicant is required. Such a photo should show your chest and head well-positioned. Don’t use eyeglasses or a head cover if possible.

3. Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age

While you can get your birth certificate at the hospital of birth or the Population Census Board of your local government, alternatively, you can collect an age declaration certificate at any high, magistrate, or customary court. See details of how to Get a Birth Certificate in Nigeria.

Note that the required age limit is from 18 to 25 years.

This will equally be scanned and uploaded to the right section of the form.

4. National Identity Number (NIN)

This will be required while filling out your form. However, you don’t need to scan and upload the paper. You’re just to fill in a number called NIN on the national ID card.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is a set of numbers assigned to an individual upon successful enrolment for the national ID cards.

Note that most applicants have not already registered for the National ID card. In this case, you’re advised to get it registered before you apply.

If your NIN copy is not ready, you can use any figure in the NIN box in order to be able to complete and submit your form.

Then, go for the screening with evidence of your registration for the national ID card.

5. Local Government Identification

Whether you call it the local government identification or the certificate of origin, this document will be required when filling out the police form online. It's one of the documents to be scanned and uploaded during the online application.

When invited for the screening/medical, each lucky applicant, who makes it to this stage will be required to show and submit a copy of their indegenship identification. This is equally called the state of origin certificate or anything similar.

Conclusion

If you’re missing any of the above-mentioned documents or the NIN, your form will not be able to submit.
