JAMB: Why is 55019/66019 Not Sending My Result?

Before 2024, students could request two results via SMS - the mock and UTME results. However, from the year 2024 (which is also the year DE requires exams too), direct entry applicants will also request their results through SMS.

Meanwhile, irrespective of the results you're trying to check through SMS, you may face delays in receiving your results even after sending the request SMS to 55019/66019.

In such cases, what should you do?

In this post, let's discuss possible causes of not receiving your mock, UTME, or DE result through SMS after sending a message to get it.

Possible Reasons 55019/66019 is Not Sending Your Results and Solutions

As a matter of fact, delays in getting your result may come from your own mistakes or certain technical errors. Let's look into possible causes.

1. You're Sending the Wrong Command

It has been observed that some students simply send an SMS with "RESULT" to 55019/66019. That's not correct! And that could be why you're yet to receive your result.

To send the SMS correctly, the right commands to send are "UTMERESULT" for UTME, "MOCKRESULT" for mock, and "DERESULT" for direct entry.

So, check for that. To help you, open the message app on your phone, enter "55019/66019" as the recipient. Then, in the message box, type the correct command as stated above. Then, send.

2. You're Sending to Wrong Recipient

During your JAMB registration, to get your profile code, which recipient did you use - 55019 or 66019? If you used 55019 back then, to get your result too, you have to send to 55019.

If you've got your profile code using 66019 and now you're trying to see your result by sending to 55019, it won't work. In fact, it may not just fail to reply with any error at all. You won't just see the result.

So, be sure you're using the recipient's number your JAMB is associated with - and stick to that.

3. You Don't Have Enough Credit on Your Phone

Usually, if you don't have N50 in your main balance, you won't get your result. Even after sending the SMS correctly, you still need to have at least N50 as your main balance as the service will debit you for that. Whereas, if you're trying to check with bonus balance, it won't work.

Of course, the system should reply with "insufficient balance" if you don't have the right amount. Yet, experience has shown that you may not get such a complaint. So, check your balance and top it up, if need be, before you retry.

4. You're Not Using the Your Profile's SIM

Additionally, if you're trying to check your result with a different line from the one used to obtain your profile code, it won't return your result.

Since each student is linked to the same phone line used to get his or her profile code, any future actions requiring SMS or the use of the SIM will have to be done using the first SIM.

Therefore, switch to that old SIM. In case you've lost it, consider retrieving the SIM. Where that's not possible, you may need to check your result using the JAMB portal instead of SMS.

5. You Include Spaces or Special Characters

Sometimes, students tend to include space when typing MOCKRESULT, UTMERESULT, or DERESULT. It's a mistake to include space - UTME RESULT, DE RESULT, MOCK RESULT. So, check for that!

Similarly, some will put a dash (-) between the two words, some will add a full stop (.), etc. Check for such too.

6. You've Activated Do-Not-Disturb (DND)

Some students have intentionally or unknowingly activated DND on their lines. With that, you might not receive messages coming from JAMB too.

To check if you've activated DND, text STATUS to 2442. To deactivate it, send ALLOW as a text message to 2442.

Conclusion

While it's convenient, students might face delays or fail to receive results due to common errors such as using incorrect commands, sending messages to the wrong recipient, insufficient phone credit, improper formatting of the result request, or having the Do-Not-Disturb feature activated.

To overcome these hurdles, ensure you're using the correct SMS command, sending to the number used during JAMB registration, maintaining enough credit, correctly formatting your request without spaces or special characters, and checking your DND status. Addressing these issues can streamline receiving your results promptly and efficiently.
