How to Choose and Know JAMB Mock Venue and Date

When registering for JAMB, you can register with either of two PINs: one for mock and the main UTME, or one for the main UTME only. If you've picked the mock UTME PIN, you'll write the mock exam before the main UTME.

Candidates Won't Choose Their Mock Centers Themselves

In case you think you're in charge of choosing the center you like for the JAMB mock, you're mistaken. You have little control over where your mock will be taken.

During JAMB registration, you're to choose an exam town. Once chosen, you've indicated the environment where you'd like to sit for your JAMB. The same applies to the mock exam. With an exam town chosen, the system will schedule the exam at any CBT center within the chosen town.

For example, let's say your exam town is Ile-Ife in Osun State. As of the time of this writing, there are about 5 CBT centers in Ile-Ife. The system will assign you to any of these centers for the UTME. However, for the mock, JAMB might use just one or two of these CBT centers, as the number of students writing the mock may not exceed the capacity of one or two centers.

In short, just as you don't have control over the CBT center where you will be posted for the UTME/DE, you don't have control over choosing a particular center for the mock. Yet, you should expect to be posted to a center within the exam town chosen during registration.

JAMB Will Load The Mock Exam Slips For Concerned Candidates

When it's time for the mock exam, usually a few weeks before the main UTME, the board will send SMS and release announcements in the dailies and on the radio for all concerned candidates to check their mock time, date, and venue.

Usually, there will be an available link on the JAMB portal where students will be asked to use their JAMB registration number, email, or phone number to view, download, and print their mock exam slips.

With this slip, you'll be allowed to take the mock exam at the assigned center.

When Is The Mock Going To Hold

It's not practical to give a specific date as the date may change depending on what JAMB deems appropriate. As mentioned earlier, the exam will be held a few weeks before the main JAMB UTME.

You should check the JAMB official website https://www.jamb.gov.ng for updates on this. Other things you should know include:

1. The mock exam is not compulsory for all JAMB candidates.
2. In fact, even if you register for it, you might not write it.
3. It doesn't add any marks to your UTME score.
4. The purpose is just to expose students to what the JAMB UTME will be like – nothing more.
5. Also, candidates who didn't pick the Mock+UTME PIN can't register for the mock later.
