Admission Quotas Into All Schools/Universities of Nursing in Nigeria

If you've attempted seeking admission into one or two schools/colleges of nursing or universities offering Nursing Science before now, but you're not fortunate, you'd want to answer one of the burning questions: "how many candidates are schools of nursing and universities offering Nursing Science admitting?

Are these schools of nursing and universities limited to a particular number of students to be admitted or they're free to admit as many as possible?

If they're limited by any quota, is it general or does each school have its own quota?

In this post, I will be answering this question. I will equally make some official references to help you understand what is truly the position of all these schools and colleges of nursing and universities when it comes to the total number of aspirants they can take in, each year.

Each School/College of Nursing and University is Limited To a Specific Number Of Students

The Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) is the sole body in charge of the central accreditation and administration of schools and colleges of Nursing in Nigeria. This council usually, on accreditation, limits these schools and universities to the specific number of students they're capable of admitting, using the available resources among other things.

The number of students to be taken in by a school/college or university offering nursing is called the "admission quota". No school is allowed to admit beyond this number.

Admission Quota Varies Among the Schools/Colleges and Universities of Nursing

Even though the term "admission quota" is generally familiar among the schools of nursing, some schools are more favored than others.

For example, some schools of nursing are limited to admitting only 25 students e.g. School of Post Basic Perioperative Nursing, ABUTH. Whereas, some can go as high as 200 e.g. Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi for its Community Midwifery Programme.
