Are We Truly to Rewrite/Re-sit JAMB UTME?

JAMB logo
There have been reports that JAMB has rescheduled candidates for rewriting of the UTME due to the failure which seemed to be mass.

Looking at the rate of failure and complaints in the just concluded UTME, it's possible that the board would reschedule another UTME especially for those who failed.

According to a report, claimed to have originated from JAMB,

Due to the mass failure recorded in the 2021 JAB UTME CBTs, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board hereby announces that there shall be a re-sit for students who scored lower than 170 in the Examination. These re-sits will hold on Saturday the 3rd of July. Visit portal.jamb.gov.ng/i-failed to get information on your centers.

The report went on to warn candidates that limited seats were available for the resit.

As a result of this and other related posts out there, candidates got worried. They wanted to know if the board had actually announced such.

This post will answer this question and set more light on a few related issues.

JAMB Has Not Announced a Re-Sit for Its UTME

As a matter of fact, JAMB has not announced any re-sit. Even in the past, there were no records of JAMB calling candidates to resit for their tests because of mass failure.

The board, though might have, in the past, reschedule candidates who for the board-based errors missed UTME or failed the exams. This time, there is nothing like that.

The exam schedule you're hearing about may just be the make-up UTME for those that JAMB attended to their registrations manually after others had completed their registrations and the exams.

This set of students went to JAMB offices later to complain that they couldn't register for UTME due to NIN and related delays. If considered genius, the board arranged for their manual registrations and later schedule them for the exams. The 2021 make-up UTME was slated to hold on August 6.

The Announcement of the Resit Was Everywhere

When you see the report everywhere especially from a person of respect to you such as your teacher, a cafe man, proprietor, etc, you're likely going to fall for it.

The problem is that these people hardly vet their information and its sources before sharing it with their loved ones. However, this doesn't mean they want to hurt you in any way. They certainly wanted to help you.

But in reality, this information is not real.

Conclusion

Those sharing this information were possibly catching funs with your innocence or they could be scammers. They usually include a link in the report which you may visit and submit your phone number.

They may take advantage of this phone number to scam you in the future.

Kindly be careful and beware that JAMB will not call you back for their UTME. It's possible for your mark to be increased by their board if they deem it fit. But not a certainty.

Wishing you luck!
