Can I Use D7, E8, F9 Economics for Business Administration?

Economics seems compulsory for all business-related courses in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Of course, it should be - because most commercial, social science, or management courses depend much on the knowledge of economics. As a result, very many candidates won't escape Economics while seeking admissions into courses that require the subject.

In fact, a few of my recent posts ... 

1. where I established the fact that you don't have to write both Economics and Commerce in SSCE/JAMB or 
2. where I stated Economics as a compulsory commercial subject in WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB

... you must have got the idea behind making at least C6 in your Economics.

However, a few universities, and for certain commercial or management courses, still admit with an ordinary pass or failure in Economics.

In other words, some universities will allow you to use another subject in place of Economics if you have F9, E8, or D7 in Economics.

If you're strictly interested in Business Administration, below is the list of the universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education accepting D7, E8, or F9 in Economics. This doesn't mean you won't write Economics but it won't matter the weaker the grade.

List of Universities Accepting Ordinary Passes in Economics or Other Subjects in Place of Economics

1. Federal University Abuja and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University formerly Anambra State University (formerly Anambra State University) accept Commerce In lieu (in place) of Economics. This doesn't mean that you won't write Economics. Rather, with F9, E8 or D& in Economics, you could be considered for Business Administration at the two universities.
2. Federal University Dustin-Ma Katsina State requires Five 'O' level Credits to include: English Language, Mathematics Economics/Entrepreneurship/Commerce/Marketing and any two subjects. This means, in place of Economics, you could use Commerce or Marketing.
3. Plateau State University, Bokkos, Plateau State accepts Commerce or Principles of Accounts in place (in lieu) of Economics. A D7, E8, or F9 in Economics is acceptable as long as you have at least credit in Commerce of Account.
4. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State accepts a pass in Economics. This means you can be admitted with either D7 or E8 in Economics.
5. Lead City University Ibadan, Oyo State requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce and other two (2) subjects. You either have Commerce or Economics not necessarily both.
6. Delta State University, Abraka requires five (5) credits at SSCE 'O' Level or its equivalent obtained at not more than two (2) sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, one Social Science subject, and any other subject in Arts, Science and Social Science. You either have Commerce or Economics not necessarily both.
7. Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State accepts 'O' Level credit pass in Financial Accounting in lieu of Economics. D7, E8, or F9 in Economics is acceptable if you have at least a credit in Financial Accounting
8. Renaissance University (RNU) Ugbawka Enugu State and Crescent University Abeokuta, Ogun State accept 'O' Level credit pass in Commerce in lieu of Economics. You can use credit in Commerce in place of deficiency in Economics
9. Lagos State University (LASU) requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics plus any three (3) of Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Government, and Geography. In place of Economics, you can use Commerce, Account, Goervenemt or Geography.
10. Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State requires Five (5) SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, a science/social science subject, and any other subject. You either have Commerce or Economics not necessarily both
11. Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja accepts one subject from Accounting, Commerce, Geography or Government in lieu of Economics. D7, E8, or F9 in Economics is acceptable if you credit pass in any of the three subjects listed above.
12. Western Delta University Oghara, Delta State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Accounts, one other Social Science subject, and anyone other subjects of choice. You either have Account or Economics not necessary both.
13. Godfrey Okoye University (GOUU), Enugu, Enugu State accepts 'O' Level credit pass in Commerce in lieu of Economics.
14. Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State requires 'O' Level credit passes in any three (3) of Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Government, and Geography. Any of the subjects listed with at least C6 is acceptable to replace Economics.
15. Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, Lagos State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics/Economics/Accounting/Commerce, and other relevant subjects. This means the university may accept any of the Maths, Accounting or Commerce in place of Economics
16. Hezekiah University Umudi, Nkwerre Imo State requires five (5) SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, and two (2) other Arts and Social Science subjects for Accounting and Business Administration programmes. You either have Commerce or Economics not necessarily both.

List of Polytechnics Accepting Ordinary Pass in Economics or Other Subjects Instead of Economics

1. Ogun State Polytechnic Abeokuta, Ogun State (formerly Moshood Abiola Polytechnic) requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings including Economics or Commerce. D7, E8, or F9 is acceptable in Economics provided you have at least credit in Commerce.
2. Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings including Economics or Commerce.
3. Federal Polytechnic Oko Anambra State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings including Economics or Commerce.
4. Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce. You can either use Economics or Commerce not necessarily the two.
5. Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, Benue State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics and three (3) other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agricultural Science/Biology. The Polytechnic accepts any of the bolded subjects in place of Economics.
6. Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro Delta State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language not Literature in English or Oral English, Mathematics and three (3) other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principles of Account, Literature in English, Commerce, History/CRS, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agricultural Science/Biology. The Polytechnic accepts any of the bolded subjects in place of Economics.
7. Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Victoria Island, Lagos State requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government/Geography, Economics/Commerce and any Social Science subject. You can either use Economics or Commerce not necessarily the two.
8. Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Ogun State requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language (not Literature in English), Mathematics and any three subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce... You can either use Economics or Commerce not necessarily the two.
9. Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Bauchi State requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce and any two (2) subjects from Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting or Shorthand. You can either use Economics or Commerce not necessarily the two.
10. Grundtvig Polytechnic Oba, Anambra State accepts five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, not Literature in English and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting, Shorthand. You can either use Economics or Commerce not necessarily the two.

Colleges of Education Accepting Ordinary Pass in Economics or Other Subjects in Place of Economics

Generally, all colleges of education accept, for Business Education, at least credit passes in

1. English Language 
2. Mathematics any three (3) of:

• Economics
• Accounts
• Government
• Geography
• History
• Business Method
• Statistics
• Commerce
• Any Science subjects

In other words, you can use any of the subjects bolded above in place of Economics. This doesn't mean you won't need to write Economics. D7, E8, or F9 in it is acceptable.
