Nature of LAUTECH Post UTME Test

It may be the time to register for JAMB UTME or plan to change institutions and courses. Hence, candidates are contemplating schools to change to.

A few who want to consider the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso are asking if the university will conduct entrance exams for their applicants or if it’s a mere screening.

Even while UTME registration is ongoing, some candidates won’t just be put in for a school unless they know the method of admission being used by that institution. Read Post UTME: Will it be Exams or Admission Screening?, if you want to know the difference between the post UTME test and the screening method.

And to answer your question - does LAUTECH write exams or conduct screening?, the answer is YES, the university usually write post-UTME test, except in certain situations that may call for only online screening.

Hope that’s not a shocker?

Sorry dude. Let me explain better.

The state-owned university would usually conduct computer-based post-UTME tests for all its aspirants before being offered courses.

This is the method the university has been using for all time and I don’t see that changing until 2020 when they suspended the CBT exam due to COVID-19. For that admission year, they used the online screening method only. For 2021, they resumed the post-UTME method. And for 2022, suspended the post UTME for online screening again due to the 8-month ASUU strike.

For any year, when the management decides to use the screening, candidates will only be admitted using their JAMB scores and SSCE subjects/grades. Hence, to stand a chance, you'll be fair off presenting higher UTME scores and better grades in the 5 O'level subjects required for the proposed course. There won't be any further exams!

Nature of LAUTECH Post UTME Test, If the University Will Conduct Exam

In a year, when the management wishes to use the post UTME, below should be how things will go.

  1. The management will announce the sales of the post-UTME form on the school portal. You’re to obtain and fill the form thereon. This is also applicable to the school even if they choose the online screening only.
  2. After the online application, you’re to print a confirmation or acknowledgment slip showing that you had registered for the screening.
  3. You will be present for the computer-based test when the time comes
  4. The management, then, releases the result of the test. It’s based on these results, they will draw their departmental cut-off marks and offer you admission.
  5. The management may release several admission lists for the admission year. They’re also known for selling a supplementary/2nd round screening form.
  6. The right place for candidates to be checking for admission lists is through its post-UTME portal and JAMB CAPS.
  7. After being offered admission, you’re to pay the acceptance fee and report to the school for physical checking of results and credentials.
