How DE Applicants Can Correct Errors in Matric/JAMB Reg. Number

JAMB logo
It’s usual to find Direct Entry applicants seeing mistakes in their Matric or JAMB registration number after they'd complete JAMB DE registration.

Though it's your duty to watch out for errors in that application before the form was finally submitted. But when such happened, the next thing was to seek solutions.

If you find yourself in this situation, what’s expected of you? What can you do to change or correct the details?

There is a solution. And before you beat yourself up for this, you’re not the only one in the mess. In fact, a candidate had recently sought the way-out from JAMB.

This post is a comprehensive version of the short answer given by the JAMB Twitter handler.

Steps to Take If You Find Errors in Your DE Registration

  1. If there was a mistake in the names, email, phone number, gender, state or local government, follow the guide, "UTME/DE: Errors With Name, Email, Date of Birth, Gender, Local Govt, Subjects Combination"
  2. If there was a mistake in the choice of courses or institutions, follow the guide, "Do-It-Yourself: Change of Institutions/Courses (With Online or Bank Payment)".
  3. If the error was in the matric number or JAMB registration number written, follow the steps below:
  1. Visit the nearest CBT Centre. You don’t necessarily need to go back to where you registered the first time. Any CBT centre can handle that correction for you.
  2. The correction may cost you. The CBT centre decides its price. You can drop feedback in the comment section to this post to give us the price that the CBT centre charges you.
  3. This correction can be done immediately and you can wait till JAMB registration closes. In other words, you can correct it anytime before your school starts admission processes for the year - especially if you noticed late.

    1. If you meant phone number, that will not affect being offered admission. Below are the possible reasons you might not be offered admission.

    1. If you have not summited the registration, you can still correct that before the submissions. If you have done that, you can go back to CBT centre to make the correction.

    1. You didn't register for mock during the registration of UTME or the attendant didn't pick for you. Ignore that and wait for UTME
