The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is currently selling admission forms for its undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with specific eligibility criteria such as a minimum of 5 O-level credits for undergraduate applicants and varying qualifications for postgraduate applicants; the application process involves selecting the desired program, meeting the requirements, and completing payment through Remita, with successful payment leading to an immediate online application form submission.

This is to inform the general public, parents, sponsors and interested applicants that admission forms into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN, are currently on sale. In this post, you will have access to the application links for the BSC programmes for the 100 and 200-level applicants, and post-graduate programmes for the Masters, P.hD  and certificate courses.

Background of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Programme

The National Open University of Nigeria is a federal open and distance learning institution, the first of its kind in the West African sub-region. It is Nigeria's largest tertiary institution in terms of student number and is popularly referred to as 'NOUN'

The university runs its programmes on a part-time i.e distance learning basis. As such, just as the conventional universities, you can have your degree (BSC), and post-graduate certificates at NOUN.

National Open University of Nigeria Admission Requirements Eligibility for Degree (BSC) and Postgraduate Programmes (Masters, PhD) etc

Undergraduate Programmes

1. An applicant for undergraduate admission into NOUN is normally expected to have a minimum of 5 O-level credits including English Language and Mathematics. in not more than two sittings.
2. Additional requirements might apply for some programmes and these can be viewed after selecting the Programme and entry-level at the Faculty’s admission page. The links to each programme and the requirements will be given in the next section.
3. JAMB UTME registration or result is not required for admission into the National Open University of Nigeria. 
4. Candidates seeking 200-level admissions should be holders of BSC, HND, ND, NCE, RN, RM, and similar other health-related diplomas and certificates.

Postgraduate Programmes

1. To qualify for admission into any of the postgraduate programmes of the University, a candidate must meet, among others, all matriculation requirements of at least five (5) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics. Some programmes accept at least a pass in Mathematics.
2. For Postgraduate Diploma Programmes, Candidates must possess either a minimum of pass Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a University recognised by the Senate of the NOUN OR a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Lower Credit. For the Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting, the candidate must have been called to the Bar. Also for admission into the school of Business and Human Resource Management Postgraduate Diploma programmes, candidates with professional qualifications such as ACA, ACIS, ACIB, ACII, ACIA, etc may be considered on individual merit.
3. For Master's degree programmes, candidates must possess either a bachelor's degree with a minimum of second class lower in the relevant field of study from a University recognised by the Senate of the NOUN. However, holders of lower classification and with a minimum of 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience may be considered on individual merit OR a Postgraduate Diploma in a related field of study from a recognised University OR A Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit in the relevant field of study. Candidates with membership certificates of relevant professional bodies may apply for the Master of Business (MBA) programme.
4. For the Doctor of Philosophy Degree programmes, candidates must possess a Master's degree in the relevant field of study from a University recognised by the Senate of the NOUN with a minimum score average of not less than 60% or a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.

National Open University of Nigeria Method of Application and Payment

1. Visit the NOUN admission portal or just click https://www.nouonline.net/
2. On the page, locate "Apply for Admission".
3. This will open available applications, click on the one you're proposing e.g undergraduate programme, Postgraduate, PhD etc. Click on each of the links for the right application
4. To apply for a programme, select the Faculty, and choose the programme and entry-level so that the View Requirement button is enabled. Clicking this button will reveal the corresponding entry requirement and enable the Apply button on the pre-payment application page.
5. Fill in all the remaining details on the page before submitting.
6. On successful submission of the pre-payment form, you are redirected to Remita to obtain an RRR invoice which should be used to effect payment for the application form.
7. An applicant who pays online using a payment card will automatically obtain the online form which must be filled out before submission.
8. Applicants who pay through a bank branch must click on Continue after payment... and enter their Unique ID and RRR. They are also given the opportunity to change the Programme applied for.
9. Applicants who had paid using an RRR generated last semester or earlier must restart the application process up to the point when they are re-directed to Remita. They should now use the newly generated UniqueID with the old RRR used for payment when they click Proceed after payment.
10. In all cases, a successful payment will lead to the generation of an online application form which should be filled out before submission online. The admission process is automated and the outcome is virtually instantaneous!
