This is to inform the general public especially interested and eligible candidates that the entry/admission forms into the college academic programmes are now on sale.


Checking the application portal will let you know the forms that are currently on sale as the college usually sell application forms for the following programmes:


  1. ND/HND Nursing
  2. Community Nursing
  3. Post Basic Nursing
  4. Refresher Basic Nursing
  5. Foundation Year Programme (FYP)

Background of ND/HND Nursing at the College of Nursing and Midwifery Katsina

  1. The ND/HND Nursing is a four-year UNINTERRUPTED programme i.e. 2 years for ND and 2 years for HND. Students start with the ND Nursing programme which is a non-terminal programme. 
  2. Stipend for SCWE shall be paid through Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The SCWE shall be graded on a pass-or-fail basis. Where a student has satisfied all other requirements of the programme BUT FAILED SCWEs, he/she may only be allowed to repeat another four months SCWEs at his/her own expense.
  3. Students shall participate in Supervised Clinical Work Experience (SCWE) during the programme. The SCWEs would be in two parts of eight weeks each. The first part of SCWE shall be between the end of ND I, while the second part shall be between the end of ND II. 
  4. Indexing shall be at the beginning of the first semester of ND II.
  5. The ND Nursing graduates with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit) will then proceed to HND Nursing.
  6. Proceeding to HND in the college is automatic but only if students earn a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit). Where a student scores below a CGPA of 2.5, he/she shall be required to repeat ND II and earn a minimum of CGPA 2.5 before proceeding to HND Nursing.
  7. Nursing Council’s Professional Exam for General Nursing shall be after successful completion of HND 1 Nursing. However, graduates of the HND Nursing programme are required to sit for the Council’s professional exam in either of the two options of specialization, namely: Midwifery for registration and licensing as a Registered Midwife (RM) and Public Health Nursing for registration and licensing as Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN).
  8. HND graduates shall proceed for one-year mandatory Supervised Clinical Experience (Attachment) in approved health facilities or institutions and after successful completion of the one-year mandatory supervised clinical attachment, graduates shall be mobilized for a one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

College of Nursing and Midwifery Katsina ND/HND Admission Requirements and Eligibility

  1. All applicants MUST have at least five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry at not more than two (2) sittings in WAEC, NECO and/or NABTEB.
  2. Candidates seeking admissions for ND/HND programme must have obtained JAMB UTME and considered the college as the first or second choice institution. However, candidates that did not choose the College during JAMB registration and now wish to, can apply for Change of Institutions through the JAMB Portal and choose it as their First or Second Choice.
  3. JAMB subject combinations for ND Nursing are the Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Any combination apart from the above, will not be considered no matter the JAMB score.
  4. Minimum cut-off marks are usually determined after every JAMB exam for each category of institution during the JAMB Policy Meeting on Admission. The minimum cutoff marks for ND Nursing are the same as the national minimum cutoff marks for Polytechnics. However, the College may the decision to increase its cutoff marks. For the 2023 admission, the cut-off mark is 160.
  5. All programmes are Full Time. Applicants working in any organization should have a release letter.
  6. All programmes have their period of application. Applicants can ONLY apply to a programme during its period of application.
  7. Applicants for Basic Midwifery MUST be female.
  8. Applicants for Community Midwifery MUST be female Indigene of Katsina State and residents of their community in Katsina State.
  9. Applicants for Post Basic Nursing MUST be Registered Midwives.
  10. Applicants for Refresher Nursing and Refresher Midwifery

  1. The College hereby invites candidates who chose the College as their FIRST CHOICE in the 2023 JAMB UTME, obtained a minimum score of 160, and UPLOADED SSCE Result on JAMB Portal to apply for Post-UTME Screening/Interview Exercise for admission into the College. See the list of eligible candidates
  2. Visit the college admission portal or click www.conamkat.edu.ng
  3. Click on “Post-UTME Screening/Interview
  4. Put your UTME Number to verify
  5. Make payment
  6. Fill out the form, submit and print the Interview Slip. The date of the interview will be indicated on the Slip

NOTE: TThe sale of Online Application Forms for admission into Basic Nursing and Refresher Basic Nursing programmes will begins on Tusday 21st March, 2023 and ends on Sunday, 30th April, 2023.
