Universities Accepting DE for Computer Science and Requirements

JAMB logo
Are you seeking admission for Computer Science through the JAMB Direct Entry (DE)? If yes, this post is your best take.

I will be guiding you on what each institution offering Computer Science demands for its admission. It will give you the list of universities accepting Direct entry applications - and specifically for Computer Science. Yet before that, I will break things down to clear some misunderstandings that may crawl in as you read on.

The post contains acronyms or alias of the universities. Hence, you may be confused when you see ILORIN, KWASU, UNIOSUN, etc. Don't be! If you want to check the full meaning of each institution, kindly click on this link for the full names of each abbreviated term.

NOTE:
  1. Also, candidates seeking admission for Computer Engineering and related course should use this as the basis for their decisions too.
  2. Candidates should read through the list and the requirements as a university may appear twice with related or conflicting information.
  3. Every point covered in this post was extracted for the JAMB official brochure. Hence, you shouldn't be in doubt about anything here. If need be, I will be updating this post to effect any official additions of instructions for the brochure.

First, Who is a DE Applicant?

A direct entry applicant is someone who had completed his or her degree, HND, RM, RN, ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB or Cambridge Advanced or its equivalent. See the differences in these qualifications.

More so,
  1. This candidate then wants to proceed to a university to obtain degree (BSC) or another degree a course in the same course or related one.
  2. This candidate must have obtained JAMB direct entry form and chose two universities of interest and one or two proposed courses. Though the first-choice institution is more certain than the second choice.
  3. This candidate must have got his result from the previous program or be awaiting it before obtaining JAMB DE form.
  4. This candidate will also partake in the post-DE exercise of the proposed institution. It could be exams or just screening. See the difference between the two.

What Are the Requirements for DE Admissions into Computer Science?

Generally, apart from the terms and conditions above, applicants must strictly have five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two (2) other Science subjects. This condition will be referred to as "plus the UTME requirements" in the rest of this post. Hence, where a school says "plus the UTME requirements", it means O'level requirements stated here.

What Each University Requires for Direct Entry Admission into Computer

Generally, JAMB requires all DE applicants to have:
  1. Two (2) 'A' Level passes in science subjects including Mathematics. Here, A'level means Diploma, IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB Advanced, Cambridge - where applicable to the university.
