3. While there is some overlap between these two fields, they involve different approaches and objectives. Fisheries typically focus on understanding and managing wild fish populations, while aquaculture focuses on the production of aquatic organisms in controlled environments.

When combined by a university, the study of fisheries and aquaculture is critical to understanding and managing the sustainable use of aquatic resources and ensuring the long-term viability of the fishing and aquaculture industries.
