UPDATED LIST OF NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES OFFERING ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

The Biology (Animal and Environmental Biology) Programme is designed to equip the students with the practical uses of biological knowledge and to inculcate in the students an entrepreneurial and problem-solving ability. It emphasizes archive of discoveries on biology-based knowledge on the life of animal forms and the environment. The aim is to make the training relevant to the society, for example, in the conservation of natural habitats and endangered species or reducing the effects of environmental pollution, and so on. DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Two (2) A level passes or NCE in Biology, Zoology or Botany and one other Science subject

JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION
Biology and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

SSCE (O'LEVEL) SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two (2) other science subject.

OTHER CONDITIONS FOR ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY ADMISSION

DIRECT ENTRY:
(i) OAU accepts A level pass in Zoology or Botany.
(ii) CALABAR accepts Chemistry and Mathematics/Physics
(iii) UNN accepts:
(a) two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology plus the UTME requirements.
(b) A degree in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements, HND and NCE credit are acceptable.
(iv) IBADAN, EKSU, RSUST and OAU do not accept NCE.
(v) UDU as for Botany, ILORIN as for Plant Biology
(vi) IMSU, PHC and ABSU - No Direct Entry
(vii) UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.
(viii) LASU accepts Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology plus O level pass in Physics.
(ix) UMUDIKE and AAU accept A level passes in Chemistry and one (1) from Biology/Botany/Zoology.
(x) MAUTY accepts HND lower credit in a relevant programme.
(xi) AAU accepts A level passes in Chemistry and Biology/ Zoology/Botany.
(xii) DELSU accepts A level passes to include Chemistry and ND upper credit in Science Technology
(xiii) IGBINEDION accepts two (2) A level passes to include Zoology and one (1) of Botany or Chemistry. Also accepts ND/HND lower credit in Biology, Food Technology or Botany.
(xiv) AAUA requires A level passes in both Chemistry and Biology.
(xv) EKSU accepts A level passes in both Chemistry and Biology. Also accepts ND upper credit in Biology/ Agricultural Science and Chemistry.
(xvi) LAGOS accepts:
(a) very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/A level subjects: Biology Chemistry and Physics
(b) Does not accept NCE.
(xvii) IBADAN does not accept Agricultural Science as a Science subject.
(xviii) KBSUST accepts:
(a) any two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science
(b) NCE in Agricultural Science.
(xix) A level pass in Chemistry or Mathematics will be an advantage but is not compulsory.
(xx) BENIN in addition to the UTME requirements. Requires:
(a) two (2) A level passes chosen from Biology, Zoology and any other Science subject.
(b) ND upper credit/HND lower credit in Science Laboratory Technology, Food Technology
(c) NCE merit with a credit in Biology or Zoology
(xxi) ILORIN NCE passes in Biology and Chemistry/Physics are acceptable plus the UTME requirements.
(xxii) SOUTHWESTERN and BOWEN same as in Microbiology.
(xxiii) ABU accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.
(xxiv) WESTERN-DEL accepts:
a. two (2) A level passes to include Botany, Zoology or Biology and any one (1) of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
b. ND/NCE merit in relevant subjects
(xxv) OSUSTECH same as in Fisheries.
(xxvi) KWASU Same as in Mathematics.
(xxvii) MAKURDI Same as in Biochemistry.
(xxviii) BAUCHI accepts IJMB/ A level passes in any three (3) of the following subjects Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) of Mathematics, Physics or Agricultural Science. ND lower credit in the following areas: Science Laboratory Technology Biology/Microbiology Option, Animal Health and Husbandry, and Food Science Technology. The candidate must also have the five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

UTME:
(i) LASU requires Chemistry plus O level pass in Physics.
(ii) AAUA requires O level credit pass in Chemistry as the fifth (5th) subject.
(iii) IMSU - As in Plant and Biotechnology. Requires O level pass in Physics.
(iv) IGBINEDION requires O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry plus Physics or any other Science subject.
(v) UNN requires five (5) O level credit passes obtained at not more than two (2) sittings including Biology, English Language, Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry or its equivalent.
(vi) PHC requires Physics and Chemistry.
(vii) BAUCHI, BENIN and ILORIN require O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. BENIN accepts O level credit pass in any Science subject in lieu of Physics.
(viii) OAU requires Physics or Chemistry.
(ix) CALABAR requires Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. UMUDIKE accepts O level pass in English Language
(x) MAIDUGURI accepts O level pass in English Language with O level credit pass in any of the Sciences.
(xi) RSUST requires Chemistry.
(xii) DELSU accepts Health/Science in lieu of Biology and does not require Mathematics.
(xiii) UMUDIKE same as in Botany.
(xiv) IMSU accepts O level pass in English Language.
(xv) IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6)O level credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings to include, English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject except Agricultural Science.
(xvi) MAIDUGURI requires O level credit passes in Chemistry and Physics/Geography.
(xvii) UYO requires O level credit passes in Mathematics and Chemistry and may accept D7 in Physics.
(xviii) RENAISSANCE requires Geography.
(xix) KBSUST requires O level credit pass in Chemistry and accepts O level credit pass in Agriculture in lieu of Biology.
(xx) KSU and ABSU require five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
(xxi) FED-LAFIA requires O level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science.
(xxii) LAGOS requires O level credit passes in Chemistry and Physics as the other two (2) science subjects
(xxiii) WESTERN-DEL requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, either Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography.
(xxiv) OSUSTECH same as in Fisheries.
(xxv) KWASU Same as in Mathematics.
(xxvi) MAKRUDI Same as in Biochemistry.
(xxvii) JOS requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject.
(xxviii) BSU accepts passes in five (5) prescribed subjects in Preliminary Science of BSU in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xxix) SOUTHWESTERN Same as Microbiology.

UTME SUBJECTS:
(i) PHC requires Physics.
(ii) AAU requires Biology and Chemistry
(iii) FED-LAFIA, WESTERN-DEL, IGBINEDION, UNN and RSUST require Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.
(iv) MAKURDI, LAGOS, EKSU, BENIN and DELSU require Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
(v) DELSU, EKSU, IBADAN does not accept Agricultural Science as a Science subject.
(vi) UDU accepts Agricultural Science.
(vii) OSUSTECH same as in Fisheries.
(viii) KWASU Same as in Mathematics.
(ix) SOUTHWESTERN Same as Microbiology.
(x) BAUCHI requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics.
