About NIJ Academic Programmes 

Primarily, the NIJ runs a two-level programme in Mass Communication: National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.

In addition, the Institution runs a Post-Graduate Diploma programme in Journalism with specialities in Print and Broadcast. Also, there is a Post Graduate Diploma programme in Public Relations and Advertising.

The Institution also runs short-term specialized certificate courses. The Institution, through a unidisciplinary, multi-disciplinary approach is employed in teaching and equipping the students so as to produce the Total Quality Graduate (TQG).

Post UTME Screening Notice and Date

Sequel to your application for admission into the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba-Lagos, your screening test will take place within the school premises. Call any of the phone numbers below for the latest schedule

NIJ Admission Requirements and Eligibility

  1. The application is open to UTME candidates who chose NIJ as first, second or not at all in UTME. Candidates who didn't choose NIJ should be ready to change to them as soon as he or she is offered admission.
  2. NIJ cut-off mark is 100 and above
  3. The Institution offers programmes leading to the award of diplomas in Mass Communication. These programmes are also available on a part-time basis during weekends. The full-time diploma programme is of a two-year duration while the part-time equivalent is three years.
  4. A candidate seeking admission into the institution's National Diploma programme must possess WASC/SSCE/GCE O' Level Certificate, NECO or equivalent with five credits including English and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
  5. Candidates for full-time programmes must sit for UTME and score not less than 100.
  6.  The application fee for admission into (ND) MASS COMMUNICATION (FT and PT)(ND I) is N8,050.00 Naira excluding N500 online transaction charge.
  7. Part-Time applicants don't need to write UTME i.e. you don't need UTME results for the ND PT form.

Deferment of Admission

All candidates already offered admission may apply for deferment of admission for that session through the head of the relevant department to the Registrar within six weeks of the date of admission. The application must be supported with genuine reasons as well as documentary evidence where necessary.

Closing Date: This year application for admission will close UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
