People have grown to understand that many things that work in the advanced world, the US, UK, Canada, etc., don't necessarily work in Nigeria.

So, let's share what works here.

Nigeria, often referred to as the "Giant of Africa," has been rapidly emerging as a tech powerhouse on the continent. The country's thriving tech ecosystem, coupled with a growing demand for skilled professionals, makes studying computer science an excellent choice for aspiring technologists.

In this post, we will explore the compelling reasons why pursuing a computer science education in Nigeria can unlock a world of opportunities.

1. Booming Tech Ecosystem

Nigeria's tech industry has witnessed unprecedented growth over the past decade. With a population of over 200 million, the country boasts a massive market for technology-driven solutions. Lagos, the commercial capital, has earned the nickname "Africa's Silicon Valley" and hosts numerous tech hubs, incubators, and startups.

According to the Nigerian Communications Commission, the ICT sector contributed over 14% to Nigeria's GDP in 2020, making it a vital driver of the economy. Two years after that, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), sector had contributed 18.44 percent to the ‘Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product Report’ for Q2 2022.

As of March 2023, VON reported that Nigeria's ICT sector contribution to GDP hits N12.49tn to the Gross Domestic Product in real terms in 2022 as a result of rising subscribers.
