4 Official Methods to Get GTBank Tokens

The first time I opted for GTBank hardware toke was when I had a delay receiving tokens through SMS. It's smarter to have options when it comes to token-based transactions.

And surely, GTB has some alternatives to getting auto-generated SMS-based tokens for its customers.

In this post, I will share not only how to get GTBank physical tokens but also how to get tokens through USSD, Mobile App, and Online Banking.

1. Getting GTB Hardware Token

GTBank's hardware token is a small device that generates a unique code for each transaction. It is a security device that helps to protect your account from unauthorized access and fraud.

Once you have received your hardware token, you can use it to generate a unique code for each transaction. To do this, simply press the button on the device to generate a code, which you will enter when prompted to do so during a transaction on the GTBank mobile banking app, internet banking platform, or other channels. Note that the hardware token is only valid for a limited period, after which you will need to get a new one.

To get a physical token from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), you can follow these steps:

  1. Visit any GTBank branch closest to you.
  2. Request for a physical token from a customer service representative.
  3. Fill out the necessary forms and provide your account details.
  4. Pay the token fee if applicable of N2,100 (price might change with time)
  5. Your physical token will be issued to you after all the necessary steps have been completed.

Meanwhile, some accounts may not require a physical token as they may have alternative means of generating transaction codes such as the GTBank mobile banking app, internet banking platform, or USSD codes.

2. Getting Tokens Through GTBank Mobile App

GTBank Mobile App is a mobile banking application developed by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), one of the leading banks in Nigeria.

The app allows GTBank customers to carry out a wide range of banking transactions directly from their mobile devices, without having to visit a bank branch.

Here are the steps to get a GTBank soft token on the mobile app

  1. Download and install the GTBank mobile banking app on your mobile device from the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Log in to the app using your internet banking login details.
  3. Once you are logged in, click on the "Settings" tab located at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select "Generate Token" and follow the on-screen instructions to create your soft token.
  5. You will be required to enter your 6-digit code to complete transactions on the app.
  6. Once you have successfully generated your soft token, you can use it to perform transactions on the GTBank mobile banking app.

Note that the soft token is only valid for a limited period, after which you will need to generate a new one.

3. Getting GTBank Tokens Using Online Banking

GTBank's online banking platform, known as GTBank Internet Banking, allows customers to perform various banking transactions and activities from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Here are the steps to get a GTBank soft token with online banking:

  1. Log in to your GTBank online banking account using your login details.
  2. Once you are logged in, click on the "Settings" tab.
  3. Select "Soft Token" and then click on "Activate Soft Token".
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process and generate your soft token.
  5. You will be required to enter your 6-digit code to complete transactions on the online banking platform.
  6. Once you have successfully generated your soft token, you can use it to perform transactions on the GTBank online banking platform. Note that the soft token is only valid for a limited period, after which you will need to generate a new one.

4. Getting GTBank Token Using USSD

The USSD code for generating a token is only available for customers who have registered for the *737# banking service and have linked their mobile number to their GTBank account.

If you have not registered for the *737# banking service, you can do so by dialing *737# on your mobile device and following the on-screen instructions to register.

Here are the steps to get a GTBank token using USSD:

Using the phone number registered with your GTBank account,

  1. Dial *737*7# on your mobile device.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to select "Generate Token" and choose your preferred account.
  3. Enter your 4-digit PIN to confirm the transaction.
  4. You will receive an SMS containing your token code, which you can use to complete transactions on GTBank's mobile banking app, internet banking platform, or other channels.
