SSCE and UTME Subjects for Animal and Environmental Biology

When seeking admission for Animal and Environmental Biology as an SSCE holder, through UTME, you need to know:

  1. the list of universities offering Animal and Environmental Biology
  2. the JAMB requirements for the course
  3. the proposed university's SSCE subject/grade requirements
  4. other reasons you may or may not be offered admission eventually

This post will answer these questions and related ones.

A candidate seeking admission for Animal and Environmental Biology must:
  1. be a holder of SSCE (O'level) e.g. WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, etc.
  2. possess at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and two (2) other Science subjects in not more than two sittings
  3. obtain the JAMB UTME form and consider your favorite university as the first choice

JAMB and Schools Cut-Off Marks for Animal and Environmental Biology

It's not just enough to have the right subjects in the O'level, so also to write the correct subjects in UTME, candidates must meet or beat the JAMB cut-off marks before being invited to register for the university's post UTME.

Of course, meeting or beating the JAMB cut-off mark is the license to obtain and partake in the post-UTME or screening of your university, you should be aware that your university may equally draw different cut-off marks (and usually higher than the one JAMB announces). For example, the University of Ilorin.

And after the screening or post-UTME, the university may still go further to draw departmental cut-off marks which they will use to weed out candidates. These final cut-off marks may be calculated based on the O'level grades, UTME scores together with the post-UTME score or any two of them (depending on the method being used by your proposed university).

As if that is not enough, JAMB has also released a list of other factors that may hinder you from being offered admission even if you meet all the requirements and conditions earlier stated. Check that in Reasons You Might Not Gain Admission this Year - JAMB.
