Schools Accepting D7, E8 or F9 in Maths for Mass Communication

Mass Communication is an art course. Hence, it may not require Mathematics to study from a common-sense point of view. However, the reality is otherwise. Schools offering Mass Communication require candidates to have at least an O’level credit pass (i.e. A1, B2, B3, C4, C5, OR C6). In other words, candidates are required to have at least C6 (last credit) to study mass communication.

General O'level Requirements for Mass Communication

FOR UNIVERSITIES, JAMB brochure requires candidates seeking admissions for Mass Communication to possess at least: 

1. Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.    
2. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, and Government plus a pass in Mathematics.
3. Five (5) SSC credit passes to include the English Language.
4. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

FOR POLYTECHNICS, JAMB brochure requires candidates seeking admissions for Mass Communication to possess at least: 

1. Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) other subjects from History, Literature in English, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts, Government, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electricity, Geography, Typewriting, Commerce/Principles of Accounting.    

However, some universities are friendly and lenient in their admission policies. Hence, they accept ordinary passes (i.e. D7 or E8) or even F9 in Mathematics for Mass Communication.

This post will list such schools that will offer you admission without Mathematics or with any deficiency in it.

• All reference in this post is according to JAMB's official brochure. Hence, they are 100% confirmed and conformed with the schools' entry policies.
• Where the school is silent regards Mathematics, it only means F9 can still be accepted. However, that doesn't imply without writing or attempting Mathematics at all.

Universities that Accept D7 or E8 in Mathematics for Mass Communication

1. Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State accepts five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, and Government plus a pass in Mathematics.
2. Cross Rivers University Of Technology, Calabar, Cross Rivers State (CRUTECH) accepts five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, and Government plus a pass in Mathematics.
3. Enugu State University Of Science And Technology, Enugu, Enugu State (ESUTECH) accepts five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, and Government plus a pass in Mathematics.
4. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State (UNIZIK) requires five (5) O’Level credit passes to include English Language and O’Level pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8).
5. Imo State University in Owerri, Imo State (IMSU) requires five (5) O’Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, and O’Level pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8).
6.  Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria requires five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Economics/Commerce, Government/History, Literature in English/Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, and any Nigerian Language with at least an O’Level pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8).
7. Joseph Ayo Babalola University Ikeji-Arakeji Osun State (JABU) requires five (5) O Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English, and a minimum of O’Level pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8).
8. Wellspring University Benin City, Edo State (WELLSPRING) accepts a pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8) provided the candidate has a total of five (5) O’Level credit passes to include English Language, Government/History, and Literature in English.
9. University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State (UNN) requires credit level passes in Literature in English and an approved science subject plus an O’Level pass in Mathematics (i.e D7 or E8).

Universities that may Accept F9 in Mathematics for Mass Communication

1. Western Delta University Oghara, Delta State (WESTERN-DEL) accepts five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English, Government, and any other relevant subjects. Note with these bold words, Mathematics is not compulsory for you. Even if you have F9, you can still be offered admission.
2. Lead City University Ibadan, Oyo State (LEADCITY) requires O’Level credit passes at SSCE or its equivalent in English Language and any other four (4) Social Science subjects. Note with these bold words, Mathematics is not compulsory for you. Even if you have an F9, you can still be offered admission.

The Polytechnics that Accept D7 or E8 in Mathematics for Mass Communication

1. Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO) requires O'Level credit passes in Literature in English Yoruba, CRS/IRS. It also accepts an O'Level pass in Mathematics. In other words, if you have a D7 or E8 in Maths, you can be offered admission to Mass Com. at the Polytechnic.
