DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Two (2) A level passes to include Literature in English and one (1) other Arts subject.
SSCE (O'LEVEL) RESULTS REQUIREMENT
Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Literature in English, English Language and three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION
Literature in English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.
Special Conditions to Note for English Language/Studies Admission
DIRECT ENTRY:i. AAU accepts ND credit in Mass Communication.
ii. ABU accepts two (2) A level passes including Literature in English, IJMB/NCE. General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies UTME requirements.
iii. AJAYI accepts two (2) A level passes or equivalent in Literature in English, one (1) other Arts subject plus three (3) O level credit passes.
iv. AL-HIKMAH accepts two (2) A level passes to include Literature in English.
v. AUE accepts NCE merit or ND credit plus the UTME requirements.
vi. AUE, COOU, ILORIN, UNIZIK, MAIDUGURI, UDU and JOS accept NCE with English Language major, candidates to spend one extra year in UNIZIK.
vii. AUGUSTINE accepts NCE merit or HND credit in addition to UTME requirements.
viii. BENIN accepts NCE credit in English Language as main subject.
ix. BIU accepts two (2) A level passes at relevant subjects or NCE merit in three (3) subjects or ND credit in relevant programmes plus UTME requirements.
x. CHRISTOPHER accepts HND, ND or NCE with credit passes in relevant programmes /subjects.
xi. EBSU accepts NCE merit in English Language.
xii. EBSU accepts NCE merit or ND credit in relevant subjects/programmes.
xiii. FED-DUTSE accepts two (2) A level passes to include English Language and a total minimum of nine (9) points.
xiv. FED-DUTSINMA accepts ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant programme/subjects.
xv. GSU, AJAYI and NAU, accept NCE merit in Literature in English.
xvi. IBADAN accepts NCE merit in two (2) teaching subjects including Literature in English not General English along with the UTME requirements. It also accepts two (2) A level passes to include Literature in English.
xvii. ILORIN accepts NCE with English major or English with other teaching Subjects.
xviii. KWASU accepts NCE with English major.
xix. LAGOS requires very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A level subjects, Literature in English and any two (2) of Igbo/Yoruba, CRS, IS, History, Government, Music, Fine Arts and French.
xx. MCPHERSON accepts JUPEB/IJMB A level or equivalent in related subjects.
xxi. NASARAWA accepts NCE merit in English Language.
xxii. NTNU accepts any two (2) A level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, ND/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant programmes/subjects.
xxiii. PHC and IMSU - no Direct Entry.
xxiv. PLASU accepts:
degree in any programme provided the candidate meets the UTME requirements
HND lower credits in relevant programme with the UTME requirements,
ND lower credit in relevant programme, with the UTME requirements.
IJMB seven (7) points in relevant subjects with the UTME requirements.
xxv. TSUJ accepts NCE in English Major.
xxvi. UMYUK accepts NCE in relevant subjects in addition to five (5) O level credit passes at two (2) sittings.
xxvii. UNIOSUN accepts two (2) A level passes to include Literature in English and other Arts subjects or NCE in English/and any other Arts subjects.
xxviii. UYO requires minimum of nine (9) points with two (2) or three (3) GCE A level subjects or equivalent. NCE pass in relevant subjects/ GCE A level in English Language and Literature in English.
i. AAUA accepts ND upper credit in Mass Communication. AAUA does not accept NCE.
ii. ABU accepts:
a. two (2) A level passes including English Language at IJMB/NCE.
b. General English/Use of English at NCE satisfiesthe UTMEEnglish requirements.
iii. ABUJA same as English Language.
iv. CALABAR accepts NCE with English Literature as the teaching subject.
v. CHRISTOPHER accepts HND, ND or NCE with credit passes in the relevant programmes/subjects.
vi. NDU requires pass in Literature in English at the A level or NCE merit and a pass in at least anyArts subject.
vii. OAU same as in English Language.
viii. UNIOSUN accepts two (2) A level passes to include Literature in English and other Artssubjects or NCE in English/Political Science.
ix. UNN accepts NCE merit in English Language in addition to the UTME requirements.
SSCE RESULTS
i. ABU requires five (5) O level credit passes to include Literature in English, English Language and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
ii. AJAYI requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English, another Arts subject and any other two (2) subjects.
iii. AUE and UYO require O level credit pass in Mathematics and other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
iv. EBSU and COVENANT also require O level credit passes in Mathematics and two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects.
v. AUN accepts:
a. A level passes to include Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, Environmental Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and French.
b. ND/HND
c. ICGSE and A level Cambridge
vi. AUN does not accept five (5) O level credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills.
vii. AUN does not offer admissions direct to 200 level and may transfer credits relevant to it's major at the discretion of the Dean of School.
viii. BAYERO requires five (5) O level credit passes to include Literature in English, English Language plus three (3) other Arts subjects.
ix. BAYERO and BENIN require one (1) other Arts subject.
x. BENIN, BSU and JOS accept TCII merit.
xi. BIU requires the three (3) O level subjects to come from either Arts or Social Sciences.
xii. EDWIN CLARK also requires O level credit pass in Government.
xiii. FED-DUTSE accepts five (5) O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) Arts subjects and one (1) Social Sciences. Literature in English is an added advantage.
xiv. FED-DUTSE and REDEEMER'S accept O level pass in Mathematics.
xv. FED-DUTSINMA requires five (5) O level credits passes to include Literature in English and Mathematics.
xvi. FED-LAFIA and LAGOS require five (5) O level credit passes to include Literature in English, English Language, Mathematics and one (1) other Arts subjects.
xvii. IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6) O level credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings to include Literature in English, English Language, one (1) other Arts subject and any other two (2) or three (3) subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Science.
xviii. ILORIN accepts any Arts / Social Science subjects.
xix. KWASU accepts five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English plus two (2) Arts subjects and one (1) Social Science/Science subject.
xx. LAGOS requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two (2) of French, History/Government, CRS/IS and any Nigerian Language.
xxi. NTNU accepts any Arts/Social Science subjects.
xxii. OAU requires five (5) O level credit passes to include Literature in English and English Language and one (1) other Arts subject plus any other subject.
xxiii. PHC requires Literature in English.
xxiv. SLUK accepts five (5) O level credit passes to include English Language, one (1) Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subjects.
xxv. UMYUK requires five (5) O level credit passes or its equivalent including English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) subjects from Arts or Social Sciences and a credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.
xxvi. UNIKINGS and REDEEMER'S require five (5) O level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and a pass in Mathematics.
xxvii. AUGUSTINE credit in Mathematics is not compulsory.
i. AAUA requires five (5) O level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, one (1) Arts subject and two (2) of the following CRS/IS, Igbo Language/Yoruba Language/Hausa Language, History/Government, French, Fine Arts or Music.
ii. CHRISTOPHER Maximum of two (2) sittings.
iii. FED-OYEEKITI also requires five (5) O level credit pass in one Science subject and at least a pass in Mathematics.
iv. KASU accepts only subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
v. KSU and ABU require five (5)O level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three (3)other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
vi. NDU requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) subjects, two (2) of which must be Arts subjects.
vii. UNN requires a Science subject.
UTME SUBJECTS:
i. AUE and SAU require Literature in English, Government/History or any other Arts subject.
ii. AUGUSTINE, FED-LOKOJA and ABU require Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
iii. BOWEN does not accept any Social Science subject.
iv. CHRISTOPHER requires one (1) Social Sciences and one (1) Arts subjects.
v. EBSU requires any two (2) of History, CRS, Government, French etc as the other subjects.
vi. FED-DUTSE accepts two (2) Arts subjects and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
vii. FED-DUTSE also accepts Mathematics and Literature in English.
viii. FED-DUTSINMA requires Literature in English, one (1) other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.
ix. LAGOS requires Literature in English and any two (2) of the following subjects CRS/IS, French, History, Government and any Nigerian Language.
x. NTNU accepts any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
xi. SLUK accepts any two (2) Arts subjects and one (1) other Arts or Social Science subject.
xii. SOSU accepts two (2) Arts subjects and any other Social Science subject.
i. ABU requires Literature in English and two (2) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
