UPDATED LIST OF NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES OFFERING APPLIED BOTANY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

Botany is a natural science concerned with the study of plants. The main branches of botany (also referred to as "plant science") are commonly divided into three groups: core topics, concerned with the study of the fundamental natural phenomena and processes of plant life, the classification and description of plant diversity; applied topics which study the ways in which plants may be used for economic benefit in horticulture, agriculture and forestry; and organismic topics which focus on plant groups such as algae, mosses or flowering plants.   1. BAUCHI

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Two (2) A level passes in Biology and either Chemistry or Physics.

SSCE (O'LEVEL) RESULTS REQUIREMENTS
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and any one (1) of Health Science, Statistics, Physics and Geography.

JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION
Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics.

OTHER CONDITIONS FOR APPLIED BOTANY ADMISSIONS

DIRECT ENTRY:
(i) WESLEYUNI accepts:
(a) At least two (2) A level passes in Biology and Chemistry or Physics.
(b) NCE and ND upper credit in addition to five (5) O level credit passes or its equivalent.
(ii) LAUTECH accepts two (2) A level passes in Biology and Chemistry, or Physics plus the UTME requirements or ND upper credit / HND or NCE credit in related programme may be considered into 200 level.
(iii) BELLS same as in Microbiology.
(iv) RHEMA accepts ND/HND lower credit plus the UTME requirements.
(v) RSUST accepts holders of the following qualifications for:
(a) ND in relevant programmess for admissions to 200 level;
(b) HND relevant to the programme for admissions to 300 level.
(vi) EBSU accepts ND/HND upper credit, NCE merit respectively in the relevant programmes.
(vii) LAGOS accepts very good passes in the following three(3) JUPEB/Alevel subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(viii) BAUCHI accepts IJMB/A level passes in Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) of the following three (3) subjects, Mathematics, Physics or Agricultural Science. ND lower credit in the following programmes: Science Laboratory Technology, Forestry or Agriculture and Food Science Technology. The candidate must also have the five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and Physics or Geography.

UTME:
(i) WESLEYUNI requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other Science subject.
(ii) BELLS same as in Microbiology
(iii) COVENANT, EBSU and LAGOS require O level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
(iv)BAUCHI requires five (5) O level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, to form the core course with three (3) other relevant Science subjects from Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography.

UTME SUBJECTS:
LAGOS requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
BAUCHI requires Geography and not Mathematics.
