Is UNILESA a Federal or State University?

Before you choose the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) in JAMB or if you're just considering changing to the new university in Osun State, you may want to be sure if it's state-owned or federal-owned.

It could have been self-telling if the word "federal" was in the name of the university. For example when you hear or see "Federal University Health Sciences Ila-orangun", you immediately understand it's federal-owned.

However, for some universities without the word "federal" e.g. Ahmadu Bello University, you may still be wondering if it's owned by the federal government or the state.

In the case of the University of Ilesa, should you want to know if it's state or federal, read to the end of this post.

In fact, in the admission procedures, the university instructs as follows:

  5. Candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with the O'level requirements and the UTME subject combination for their program of choice.
