What is the admission requirement for Home Economics and Rural Development?
These requirements should include
- the JAMB UTME subject combination
- the SSCE or O'level subjects
In this post, I will be breaking these down. You will see the Direct entry requirement, the UTME requirement, and the O'level requirement for Home Economics.
Official JAMB Requirement For Home Economics in Polytechnics
In the JAMB brochure, the board has listed the following as its official requirements for Home Economics in polytechnics.
- SSCE Subjects: Five (5) SSC credit passes in any three (3) of the following: Government, Business Methods, Economics/Commerce, Religious Knowledge, Any Nigerian Language, Geography, Bookkeeping and Principles of Accounts, History, Clothing and Textile, plus 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics or TC II merit including English Language with O level pass in Mathematics.
- UTME Subjects: English, Biology, Agricultural Science and any other subject.
With the stated requirements, you should be fine with almost all the polytechnics offering Home Economics. However, some polytechnics may be friendly or tense in the demand.
This is why an in-depth look into the specific requirements of each polytechnic will be more helpful.
Polytechnics' Specific Admission Requirements for Home Economics and Rural Development
I've studied all the polytechnics offering Home Economics - Federal, State, and Private.
Here is my finding!
Generally, all polytechnics and mono-technics offering Home Economics and Rural Development accept the same subject combination in UTME and the same subject listed in the JAMB brochure for SSCE.
