UTME and O'level Subjects For Banking and Finance (Universities)

JAMB logo
To study Banking and Finance as a UTME candidate, there are O'level subjects to meet, JAMB UTME subjects to write, and cut-off marks to meet up for the proposed institution's admission requirements. This post is all you need to guide you on this.

NOTE:
  1. All schools in this post are represented by acronyms. If you want to get the full meanings and addresses of these universities, click Universities Offering Banking and Finance in Nigeria.
  2. The collection of the universities here is extracted from the JAMB official brochure. Hence, be rest assured that every piece of information on this page is official.

JAMB generally makes it clear in the updated JAMB brochure that candidates seeking Banking and Finance admission into the 100 level should:

  1. Write English, Mathematics, Economics, plus any one (1) of Government and Geography.
  2. Also, candidates should possess at least five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and any other subjects.
  3. For NBC (NABTEB), the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of the following; Accounting, Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice, and Economics.

However, some universities can be so specific as to what they want from candidates. Hence, some accept certain O'level subjects or grades other than the one stated by JAMB above. In the same vein, some universities prefer certain subject combinations instead. Below is the list of those universities and their specific requirements.

Individual University's Cut-Off Mark For Banking and Finance

There is probably no space to explain, in detail, what cut-off marks the universities will require for Banking and Finance. It's safe to say that the schools will accept the same cut-off mark required for other courses or related ones. You can search the name of your universities on this blog to see if I've recently updated their post-UTME adverts and the cut-off marks they accept.

And since the topic of the cut-off mark is so wide, I will advise you to check the first two related posts below to get the idea of three types of cut-off marks you're to pay attention to and what your university is likely to draw as the cut-off mark for this admission year.
