UPDATED LIST OF NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES OFFERING AGRONOMY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

Agronomy is the science and technology of producing and using plants in agriculture for food, fuel, fiber, and land restoration. It is both a humanitarian career and a scientific one. Agronomy has come to encompass work in the areas of plant genetics, plant physiology, meteorology, and soil science.

When seeking admission into Agronomy in Nigeria, candidates must understand:
  1. the number of universities that offer Agronomy as degree courses
  2. SSCE (O'level) subjects required for Agronomy admission
  3. JAMB UTME subjects combination for Agronomy
  4. Direct Entry (DE) requirements for Agronomy
  5. JAMB cut-off and universities marks for Agronomy
  6. Other factors that help in gaining admission or otherwise

List of Universities that Offer Agronomy in Nigeria

Below is the updated list of universities candidates can seek admission into for Agronomy
  1. Adamawa State University Mubi (ADSU), Adamawa State
  2. Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUTECH), Enugu, Enugu State
  3. University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan Oyo State
  4. Federal University Lafia (FULAFIA),  Nasarawa State
  5. Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) Taraba State
  6. Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN), Osun State

JAMB Gereal O'level (SSCE) and Direct Entry (DE) Requiemenets for Agronomy

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board requires Agronomy UTME applicants to:
  1. possess at least Five (5) SSCE credit passes in Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Geography or Economics.
  2. obtan JAMB UTME form and write Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and Physics or Mathematics in UTME
  3. select their most preferred university as the first choice
  4. obtain the Post UTME/screening form of their proposed universiites
  5. partake in the university's exams or online screening or physical screening (whichever applicable)
  6. upload their results to the JAMB portal during or after the UTME

The board also requires all Direct Entry applicants to:
  1. possess at least Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry/Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science plus one of Mathematics/Physics and Geology/Economics
  2. possess at least five (5) SSC credit passes in Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Geography or Economics.
  3. obtain JAMB Direct entry form and consider their most preferred university as number one choice
  4. obtain the university's post DE/screening form (whichever is applicable)
  5. upload their O'level and A'level results to the JAMB and school portal

Individual Universities's Direct Entry Requierements for Agronomy

  1. Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN), Osun State accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry and one (1) from Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Geography and Mathematics.
  2. Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) Taraba State accepts ND credit in Crop Production Technology plus the UTME requirements.
  3. Other universities accept at least Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology or Agricultural Science plus one of Mathematics or Physics and Geology or Economics

Individual Universities's SSCE (O'level) Requierements for Agronomy

  1. Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUTECH), Enugu, Enugu State accepts 'O' Level pass in Physics.
  2. Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN), Osun State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in the SSC or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in addition to an acceptable score in the UTME
  3. Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) Taraba State requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one of Physics, Geography or Economics. UTME requirements with 'O' Level pass in Physics is acceptable.
  4. Other Universities at least Five (5) SSCE credit passes in Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Geography or Economics.

Individual Universities's UTME Subject Combination for Agronomy

  1. Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN), Osun State equires Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and any other science subject.
  2. Other universities accepts Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and Physics or Mathematics in UTME
