2023/2024 BAYERO UNIVERSITY KANO UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE

This is to inform the general public, parents, sponsors and eligible candidates that Bayero University (BUK) screening form is now on sale. All concerned should take note as follows.

Bayero University, Kano will conduct online screening for all candidates of UTME and DE who have chosen the institution as the first choice to enable them to key into the University’s portal.

Sequel to the report of the University Central Admissions Committee and the decisions by the University Management, the candidates will not be subjected to any written test as done previously.

According to a statement signed by the Director of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records (DEAR), Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi on behalf of the acting Registrar, Malam Jamil Salim, the University has pegged 220 and above cut-off points for programmes in the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences while Faculties of Allied Health Sciences, Dentistry and Law have their cut off points from 200 and above.

The statement added that the cut-off points for programmes in other faculties are 180 and above. They are: Agriculture, Arts and Islamic Studies, Basic Medical Sciences, Communication, Computer Science and Information Technology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Education and Engineering. Others are Life Sciences, Management Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.

The candidates have been urged to visit the University’s website at www.buk.edu.ng and click on the 2023 UTME/DE online screening exercise for registration.

Similarly, all candidates are advised to visit any JAMB Office or accredited CBT centre nearest to them to upload their O’level results (WAEC, NECO, etc.)

BUK Post UTME/Undergraduate Application

This category of applicants must have the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent. Depending on additional qualifications possed by an applicant, there are three ways to apply.

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

  1. Candidates must have scored mark not less than the minimum Institutional cut-off marks for Bayero University, Kano of 180. However, the cut-off marks for some programmes vary as follows; Faculty of Allied Health Sciences 200, Faculty of Clinical Sciences (MBBS) 250, Faculty of Dentistry 200, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences 220, Faculty of Law 220. Similarly, as was the case last year, the cut-off mark for Blind candidates (ONLY) who applied to be admitted into the University is 160.
  2. Prospective candidates must have sat for the UTME Examinations, must have applied for a course in Bayero University, Kano and must have scored an aggregate to be determined by the University before they are deemed eligible in subjects relevant to the programme applied for.
  3. Prospective candidates must have obtained a minimum of Five (5) passes at Credit level in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE or Equivalent) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examinations Council (NECO) in not more than two (2) sittings, including a pass at credit level in both English and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen field of study.

Direct Entry (DE) Applicants

The general entry requirements for the Part-time degree programmes are OND (with merit), NCE, IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits), and HND (Pass). Applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ level requirements applicable to regular full-time undergraduate admissions. This means that credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied, while Mathematics is necessary for science-based courses and the social sciences.

Holders of 'A' Level certificates would be required to submit their credentials for screening.
